Yu Mulian, a veteran artist in the Hong Kong entertainment industry, has won the love and respect of countless audiences because she played the role of licorice in TVB dramas. However, the former screen star has faced serious health challenges in recent years.

Three years ago, Yu Mulian unfortunately suffered from pulmonary fibrosis, and then was diagnosed with a rare hematomatitis, and was once admitted to the ICU of Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Despite her illness, she maintained an optimistic attitude and showed perseverance.

Recently, Yu Mulian temporarily moved into a nursing home because her worker's sister took a month's vacation. This decision was made out of concern for one's own safety, in case of accidents such as falls while left unattended at home.

After her friend Lin Jianming learned the news, he went to visit the nursing home. During the visit, Lin Jianming found that although Yu Mulian was thin, she was in a good mental state and had a good environment.

Yu Mulian expressed her gratitude to her friend for her concern, but modestly said that she didn't need anything. Mr. Lin then shared photos of the visit on social media and planned to ask her out for tea when Ms. Yu's worker's sister returned.

Yu Mulian's life experience is full of legends. In August 2017, at the age of 80, she admitted in an interview that although she had a crush on someone, she chose to give up because the other party had other suitors.

In the interview, she revealed that she "longs for love all my life, but I don't want to love", showing her persistence and helplessness in love.

Yu Mulian has not only achieved success in her acting career, she is also a philanthropist who is enthusiastic about public welfare. In 2005, she donated more than $80,000 out of the HK$200,000 Long Service Payment (pension) granted to her by TVB to build a primary school in the mountainous area of Bijie City, Guizhou Province, named "Yu Mulian Hope Primary School".

This primary school is the first official primary school in Ashi Township, Bijie City, and is located next to County Road 740, providing local children with the opportunity to receive education.

On February 24, 2023, Yu Mulian and other senior Hong Kong artists were awarded the "Outstanding Performing Arts Award" at the Hong Kong Performing Artists Guild Spring Dinner. This award is a recognition and recognition of her contributions to the Hong Kong performing arts industry over the years. Despite the traces of time, Yu Mulian still left a deep impression in the hearts of the audience.
