The NBA officially announced that Timberwolves player Naz Reid was selected as the sixth man of the season. The three nominees for the award were Reid, Monk and Portis, with Monk having been the most vocal but unfortunately missed out on the award due to an injury sustained in the closing stages of the regular season. Reed only had 2 more first-place votes than Munch, and it was definitely a narrow victory.

Returning to this year's Sixth Man of the Year selection, Clippers guard Powell was also very popular, but he did not make the shortlist. Powell was angry: "That's! I work with four halls of fame, I have limited opportunities to touch the ball, and I think I qualify for the shortlist. Powell ended up scoring 65 points and finished fourth.

After Towns was injured, it was Reed's outstanding performance that helped the Timberwolves retain the top three in the West. He was born on August 26, 1999, with a height of 2.06 meters and an arm span of 2.22 meters. In the 2019 NBA draft, Reed was not drafted, and the Timberwolves signed him for 4 years and $6.1 million.
