In the long course of history, we have witnessed countless times the contrast between strong and weak powers, for example, the familiar United States, which has always liked to regard itself as the boss and always feels that the world has to be at his mercy, but recently it has suffered a lot of big setbacks. Not long before that, the African country of Niger suddenly called for the US military to "get out" of its territory, a move that was undoubtedly another resounding slap in the face to US global hegemony.
Niger, a country that is not conspicuous on the map, has rich uranium resources and oil reserves, which has naturally become fat in the eyes of the United States and Western powers. However, the Nigerien government has made a choice that has surprised the Americans, that is, to move closer to Russia, rather than continue to maintain so-called "cooperation" with the United States and the West. The U.S. delegation has just returned from a visit to Niger to try to strengthen cooperation between the two sides to consolidate the U.S. military presence in Africa. However, as soon as the delegation left, Niger announced that it would tear up its military cooperation agreement with the United States and expel the US troops from its territory, a decision that undoubtedly made the United States feel "a bolt from the blue", although the United States has nodded in agreement.
Unexpectedly, with Niger flipping the table, another African country made a similar decision. According to reports, the Central African country of Chad wrote a letter to Washington threatening to end an important security agreement. In other words, there is a risk that the United States will lose its military presence in another African country, a move that could give Russia more of its influence in the region.
I believe everyone knows that the contest between the United States and Russia is not only on the Russian-Ukrainian battlefield and the Syrian war, but also on the land of Africa. And judging from the above, Putin won another game this time, not only pulling the former allies of the United States into his camp, but also giving this scene a domino effect in Africa.
But then again, according to the behavior of the United States in the past, it is completely okay to rely on it, so why did they agree to withdraw their troops from Niger this time? There are two main reasons:
First, the Middle East is the most critical region for the United States at the moment, and for this reason the United States has concentrated a large amount of military resources around the western Pacific, so in this context, it is unrealistic for the United States to continue to suppress Africa.
Second, the United States cannot call the shots in this matter, because the emergence of Russia has provided a new choice for African countries, unlike the United States and the West, Russia pays more attention to fairness and justice in cooperation with third world countries, and will not launch colonial aggression for no reason, and this image has made Russia win more and more support and recognition in the international arena.
The message revealed by this whole incident is not only the dissatisfaction of the two countries with the United States, but also a kind of resistance to hegemonism, but this is not worse for the United States, and the withdrawal of troops from Niger and Chad may be just the beginning, and it can be expected that there will be more similar "anti-American" incidents staged around the world in the future, and then the US military will not only sound in Africa.
In a word, the hegemonic behavior of the United States has aroused the disgust and opposition of all countries, and what the United States should do more than maintain its crumbling hegemony is to do its best to maintain the order and stable existence of a big country, after all, this is the foundation of consolidating the country, and it is far more important than guarding hegemony.
