According to data released by the China Gold Association today (April 26), in the first quarter of 2024, the domestic raw gold output in mainland China was 85.959 tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.16%. Against the backdrop of strong gold prices, gold mining enterprises have strengthened their willingness to carry out geological exploration and infrastructure technological transformation, and gold production has maintained growth, with gold consumption reaching 308.905 tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.94%.
Among them, the consumption of gold jewelry was 183.922 tons, down 3.00% year-on-year, the consumption of gold bars and gold coins was 106.323 tons, a year-on-year increase of 26.77%, and the consumption of industrial and other gold was 18.660 tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.09%. High gold prices have suppressed gold jewellery consumption, but have boosted bar and coin consumption at relatively low premiums.
