From April 16th to May 16th, as one of the series of activities in the warm-up period of the Olympic Qualification Series and Shanghai City Sports Festival, the "Rock Climbing into Campus" activity entered many schools in Shanghai, and the climbing classes from the Shanghai Mountaineering and Outdoor Association allowed children to experience the fun of rock climbing.
On April 25, in the physical education class of Shanghai Qisehua Primary School, a lively rock climbing class attracted children's strong interest in this Olympic sport. Under the guidance of the climbing instructor, the children wore climbing equipment, learned the basic knowledge of rock climbing, mastered the basic essentials of movements, and felt the charm of climbing on the rock wall.
"Rock climbing is part of the physical education class and comes into the school classroom. Rock climbing coach Tang Yibin said. In addition to strength and physical training, the Rock Climbing on Campus series of activities will mainly teach students climbing techniques, techniques, and the necessary knowledge to participate in this sport.
In the class, the coach explained on the spot, and at the same time demonstrated to the children how to complete the movement and other actions on the rock wall, and the children looked at the coach's agile posture and brisk rhythm, all of which were attracted by this sport.
At the end of the explanation, the children were eager to try in front of the rock wall. "I learned the art of rock climbing," said one child after trying to climb, "I used to think it was difficult, but now I find it easy." ”
As a sport that integrates strength, skill and entertainment, rock climbing can effectively stimulate children's desire to explore, curiosity and adventurous spirit, and rock climbing also represents the spirit of tenacious struggle and the belief of never admitting defeat, which requires continuous perseverance and hard work.
It is understood that in this series of activities of "rock climbing into the campus", Shanghai Mountaineering and Outdoor Association has successively opened courses in private Shangwai Jing'an Foreign Chinese Primary School and private Pinghe School, which has played a role in promoting the popularization of rock climbing among young people. At the same time, through warm-ups, basic training and special training, the climbing class helps students master climbing skills, stimulate enthusiasm for rock climbing, and more importantly, help students overcome their fears and cultivate a brave spirit.
In 2016, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed rock climbing as an Olympic sport. At Paris 2024, climbing will be divided into two formats: speed and all-around (bouldering + difficulty), with a total of four gold medals (men and women).

From 16 to 19 May, the Olympic Qualification Series will be held in Huangpu Riverside, Shanghai, for rock climbing, breakdancing, skateboarding and BMX freestyle. At that time, top climbers from all over the world will set off a "rock climbing boom" in Shencheng.
