On the morning of the day after the incident, Ayaken Hirayama, a 25-year-old construction worker living in Koshigaya City, Saitama Prefecture, went to a police booth in Tokyo and turned himself in. He said he had drunk a few times with those two acquaintances, but only knew their nicknames, not their real names. Before he turned himself in, his men ordered him to return his phone, Mr. Hirayama said.
