From April 18th to 19th, the "2nd FMCG Intellectual Property Protection and Innovation Conference" was successfully held in Beijing, sponsored by the China Trademark Association, co-organized by China Trademark Magazine and Beijing McCain Management Consulting Co., Ltd., and co-organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Patent and Trademark Office. As a high-end event in the field of intellectual property in the FMCG industry, the conference with the theme of "Reshaping the Value of Intellectual Property and Building a New Pattern of Industry Development" brought together representatives from all parties to discuss new trends, new ideas and new methods of intellectual property protection and innovation in the FMCG industry. Nearly 400 people attended the event, including intellectual property experts and scholars, representatives of well-known domestic and foreign enterprises, legal and intellectual property service institutions and industry media.

In his speech, Mafu said that the FMCG industry, represented by food and beverage, personal care products and home care products, as an important part of the national economy, has always been a hot spot in market competition. As a national professional association and trademark agency organization in the field of trademarks, the China Trademark Association attaches great importance to the construction of intellectual property rights in the FMCG industry under the new development pattern, and in recent years, it has actively promoted cross-border cooperation and built a platform to help enterprises enhance the value of intellectual property rights and market competitiveness. The association has successively cooperated with relevant industry associations to set up the "Intellectual Property Protection Committee of China Liquor Industry Association" and "Cosmetics Industry Professional Committee of China Trademark Association" to go deep into the vertical industry segmentation field and serve the trademark brand building of enterprises; The "China Brand Trademark Expo" is held every year during the "China International Trademark and Brand Festival", gathering many high-quality products from well-known brand enterprises, high-quality service organizations and geographical indication enterprises at home and abroad, and building a publicity and promotion platform for the internationalization of trademark brands. The association hosted this conference to build a communication platform for FMCG industry elites, intellectual property practitioners and authoritative experts to discuss trends, promote cases, share results, apply guidance and business docking, and promote the solution of the key, pain points and difficult problems of intellectual property protection and innovation development in the FMCG industry.

Two days, four special sessions. The conference focused on the hot spots and trends of intellectual property rights in the industry such as trademarks and brands, appearance patents, copyrights, and unfair competition, and set up keynote speeches, roundtable dialogues and other forms. More than 30 guests, including authoritative experts and scholars in the field of intellectual property, well-known FMCG companies, professional intellectual property service agencies, brand planning companies, and e-commerce platforms, shared their thoughts and experiences on intellectual property creation, application, protection, management, and services around related topics, and spoke freely for the high-quality development of the FMCG industry.

The first is to comprehensively discuss the protection, application and management of FMCG trademarks. A number of guests from Procter & Gamble (China) Co., Ltd., Wanhuida Intellectual Property, Huajin Law Firm, Unilever, etc., discussed the innovation of trademark management, the international layout of trademarks, the trademark protection of the liquor industry, and the fight against counterfeiting. Guests from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Patent and Trademark Law Firm, Beijing Jingdong Sanbailu Shidu E-commerce Co., Ltd., Nongfu Spring Co., Ltd., Bloomage Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and the Intellectual Property Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences focused on "Comprehensiveness, Feasibility and Effectiveness - Comprehensive Strategy from Trademark to Brand Upgrading". Guests from China Feihe Co., Ltd. shared their views on "Risks of Registration and Use of Prohibited Signs" in the form of a roundtable dialogue.

The second is to focus on the design and copyright protection of FMCG. Guests from Tomson Beijian Co., Ltd., Hengdu Law Firm, Yihai Kerry Arowana Grain, Oil and Food Co., Ltd. explored the all-round protection of FMCG designs, the construction of a high-value patent system and the response to font copyright infringement.

The third is to pay special attention to unfair competition in the FMCG industry. Guests from Kanglong Law Firm, Intellectual Property Research Center of Central University of Finance and Economics, Guangdong Liangma Law Firm, etc., combined with typical cases, shared hot issues of unfair competition from the perspectives of packaging and decoration, trademark squatting, etc.

In addition, guests from Beijing Intellectual Property Protection Center, Taotian Group, H&H (China) Co., Ltd., Beijing Sanyou Intellectual Property Agency Co., Ltd., Sichuan Tiance Intellectual Property Agency Co., Ltd., Questel Company, Beijing Bisu Information Technology Co., Ltd., AMEC International Intellectual Property, Qunyushan Consulting, etc., shared cutting-edge topics such as collaborative protection of intellectual property rights, APP category attribution, digital and intelligent application of trademark management, and brand building. The four sessions were presided over by representatives from Beijing Chang Tsi Law Firm, Wanhuida Intellectual Property, Minzu University of China Law School, and Shanghai Bixing Law Firm.

Delegates and guests interacted with each other

The conference was full, with frequent keynote speeches by guests and enthusiastic roundtable dialogues. A product and service display area was also set up at the venue to build a publicity and promotion platform for the exchange of some high-quality FMCG products and service organizations.
