Who was Zhang Pinghua and what emergency did he report?

Zhang Pinghua, a native of Yanling, Hunan, was a veteran of the Red Army who joined the party honorably in 1927.

In 1959, after the Lushan Conference, Zhou Xiaozhou no longer served as the first secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman Mao proposed that Zhang Pinghua take over. Zhang Pinghua became the number one leader in his hometown province.

In 1965, Chairman Mao returned to Jinggangshan and specially invited Zhang Pinghua to go with him. Zhang Pinghua unfortunately suffered from appendicitis, and Chairman Mao said that he could wait for him to be cured before going together. How could Zhang Pinghua let Chairman Mao wait for him?

He found an old Chinese medicine doctor to delay his condition and accompanied Chairman Mao to Jinggang Mountain. Chairman Mao took the initiative to invite him to take a group photo. At that time, Zhang Pinghua was a provincial party secretary who was highly valued by Chairman Mao.

Zhang Pinghua and Hua Guofeng also have a deep relationship. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Hua Guofeng was transferred to Hunan Province, and when Zhang Pinghua became the number one leader in Hunan Province, Hua Guofeng still served in Hunan and was Zhang Pinghua's subordinate.

Later, Hua Guofeng entered Beijing to take up a post, but Zhang Pinghua experienced some hardships and could not work for a long time. In 1973, Zhang Pinghua returned to Hunan to serve as the second secretary of the provincial party committee, and was no longer the number one.

On September 10, 1976, the day after the death of the great leader Chairman Mao, Wang Hongwen did not go through the discussion of the Central Committee and did not obtain the authorization of the Central Committee, and without authorization from the Central Committee, he arbitrarily asked his secretary to issue a notice to all provinces and cities across the country in the name of the Central Committee:

If a major problem occurs, it should be reported in a timely manner, and if the important problem is difficult to solve, it should be asked for instructions in a timely manner. There is no problem with these two sentences, this is the organizational procedure and organizational rules, and the leaders of all provinces and cities understand it.

The point is the last sentence, which is very problematic. All reports and requests for instructions must be directly contacted by Wang Hongwen's secretary. Direct contact with Wang Hongwen's secretary is to ask Wang Hongwen for instructions and report.

The question is, can he, Wang Hongwen, represent the Central Committee? This circular obviously violates organizational procedures. It was carried out behind Hua Guofeng's back. Hua Guofeng was the supreme leader at that time, and Wang Hongwen's move obviously disrespected Hua Guofeng, and he was making small moves in private and had a conspiracy.

Zhang Pinghua, who was serving in Hunan at that time, also received this notice, as a long-tested old revolutionary, an old Red Army, and a leader for many years, Zhang Pinghua was very politically sensitive, and he felt that there was something wrong with this notice, and immediately reported it to Hua Guofeng.

Zhang Pinghua reported in a very timely manner. Only then did Hua Guofeng know that Wang Hongwen's small actions were by no means small actions, but big conspiracy. Wang Hongwen wanted to control the provinces and cities, but this was a big matter, and Hua Guofeng hurriedly went to Marshal Ye Jianying to discuss.

In the name of the central authorities, they decided to issue a circular to the whole country, immediately closing down the duty rooms of the CPC Central Committee's offices that had been opened without the consent of the central authorities, and reporting major problems to Hua Guofeng in all localities.

This is the attempt to kill Wang Hongwen. On the second day of Chairman Mao's death, Wang Hongwen made such a small move, what does this mean?

This shows that they want to elevate Hua Guofeng and seize the supreme power. This shows that Wang Hongwen and others did not take Hua Guofeng seriously at all, and actually wanted to engage in conspiracy. This shows that they are impatient and may jump off the wall at any time.

The first striker, the last striker is controlled by others. If Hua Guofeng was still hesitant before, then now, Hua Guofeng no longer hesitates, and it is those people who force Hua Guofeng to take the initiative.

Hua Guofeng quickly asked Li Xiannian to go to Ye Jianying to discuss countermeasures and finalize the plan. On the night of October 6, Wang Hongwen and others were arrested one after another, smashing the conspiracy of those bad guys, and Hua Guofeng made great contributions.
