Born in March 1922 in Yunyang, Sichuan, he is a professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and a famous artist.

In 1942, he was admitted to the Art Department of National Central University, where he studied under Mr. Xu Beihong, Fu Baoshi, Xie Zhiliu, Huang Xianzhi, Qin Xuanfu, Lu Sibai, and Chen Zhifo. After graduating in July 1946, he returned to Nanjing with the Central University from Chongqing. Later, at the invitation of Xu Beihong, he went north to Peking to teach at the National Beiping Art College and was responsible for the teaching aid group. In 1948, he was officially hired by Xu Beihong as a lecturer at the National Beiping Art School. After the establishment of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, he served as a lecturer, responsible for the teaching of basic courses, a member of the sketch teaching and research group, and the management of the teaching aids group. In 1950, he went to the Soviet Union with the "Chinese Art Exhibition". In 1959, he taught the "First Studio" of the Oil Painting Department (Wu Zuoren Studio). He retired in 1987.

Dai Ze has been teaching in the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts for a long time, and has made outstanding contributions to the cause of Chinese art education, and has also cultivated a large number of outstanding talents for the cause of Chinese art, such as Huang Yonghou, Jin Shangyi, Wang Yidong and other famous artists.
