Chen Guang, a famous general of the Red Army: At least a general with qualifications, but he committed suicide before being conferred the title?

In 2015, when Chen Jiaming, the grandson of General Chen Guang, attended a public event, he was seen wearing a white shirt and a work badge, looking like an ordinary person, and it was difficult for people to associate him with Jiangmenhou. However, on closer inspection, his appearance is dignified, and his appearance is somewhat similar to that of his grandfather, General Chen Guang.

The name Chen Guang may be a little unfamiliar to many people. Although he was honored as a general, his name did not appear in the list of founding generals. However, his contributions and qualifications surpassed those of most people, and his military exploits were not inferior to those of many of the founding generals. Why, then, did General Chen Guang become a forgotten man?

General Chen Guang was born in 1905, the same age as Zuo Quan, Li Da and others. In his early years, he was exposed to progressive ideas, participated in the Shonan Uprising, and joined the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base Area. Although Chen Guang did not receive a formal military school education, his military talents were self-taught in battle. He has been fighting horses for decades, experienced in hundreds of battles, and has been wounded more than 10 times. During the Red Army, he assumed the position of division commander, and his military ability was widely recognized.

After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Chen Guang was entrusted with important tasks, and was soon appointed by the organization department as the brigade commander of the 343rd Brigade of the Eighth Route Army. And he was stubborn and his emotions were difficult to control, which led to strained relations with his comrades. Despite his talent, due to his personality, he lacked opportunities to work with others, and even during the War of Liberation, he served only as Shino's deputy chief of staff.

After liberation, Chen Guang was transferred to Guangzhou. However, soon after, he was dismissed from the military for committing a mistake of principle, plus some people with ulterior motives framed and attacked. In 1954, Chen Guang chose to end himself in despair, when he was not yet 50 years old. Chen Guang's death has dealt a heavy blow to his family. His wife, Shi Ruichu, raised several children and lived a difficult life, and it was not until 1988 that General Chen Guang finally regained his grievances and restored all his reputation.

Today, Chen Guang's sons have entered their old age, and his grandchildren are also working in ordinary positions. Among them, grandson Chen Jiaming opened a restaurant in his hometown in Hunan and lived a plain and comfortable life. Although Chen Jiaming has an ordinary appearance, he carries the spiritual heritage of General Chen Guang. He passed on his grandfather's heroic deeds and noble spirit in his family and worked hard to contribute to society.
