On the evening of July 30, 2023, Zhou Mouxia, accompanied by relatives and friends Zhou and other six people, agreed with Zhao Liuchao to meet at the gate of an industrial park in Guangzhou. After Zhao Liuchao arrived, he walked straight to Zhou Mouxia, and was stopped by Zhou and others, Zhao Liuchao stabbed Zhou, Zhou Mouxia and others with a sharp knife he carried, causing Zhou Mouxia to die and Zhou Mouxia and four others to be injured.
The court held that the defendant Zhao Liuchao deliberately and unlawfully deprived others of their lives, causing the death of one person, the minor injuries of one person, and the slight injuries of three others, and that his conduct constituted the crime of intentional homicide. Zhao Liuchao's subjective malice was great, the criminal methods were cruel, and the consequences were serious, and he should be severely punished, and the court made the above judgment in accordance with law. It is worth noting that according to Zhou Xue's sister Zhou Mei (pseudonym), on March 21, 2024, when the case was tried in the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court, Zhao Mouchao refused to admit guilt, saying that he did not commit domestic violence to his wife and did not stab people in the street. Zhao Mouchao's remarks made the prosecutor very angry, and asked how Zhou Xue died if he hadn't stabbed him to death. Zhao Mouchao couldn't defend himself, there was no way, and finally said that the video was used as evidence.

Around 2008, Zhou Xue met and married Zhao Mouchao, a man from Henan, and had a son and a daughter. On July 7, 2023, Zhou Xue and Zhao Mouchao submitted a divorce application to the civil affairs department of Pingyu County, Henan. After that, Zhou Xue returned to Guangzhou to work.

According to Zhou Mei, in the first week of the 30-day divorce cooling-off period, Zhao Mouchao was relatively calm, agreed to the divorce, and signed a divorce agreement, and even asked Zhou Xue to quickly take things away, and he wanted to bring other women back to live. But soon, Zhao Mouchao repented and was unwilling to divorce, and even beat Zhou Xue for this.
It is understood that on July 20, 2023, Zhao Mouchao asked Zhou Xue to meet again, "with a very tough attitude". Worried that Zhao Mouchao was violent, Zhou Xue called the police, but Zhao Mouchao was reluctant to go to the police station. At that time, Zhao Mouchao insisted on meeting, and said that he apologized to each other, admitted his mistakes, and did not want to divorce.
In the end, forced by Zhao Mouchao's threat, Zhou Xue agreed to meet. Zhou Mei recalled that when Zhao Mouchao arrived, he didn't say anything, and directly stabbed people with a knife, first stabbing his brother and several other men, and then chasing Zhou Xue with a knife. After that, Zhao Mouchao was subdued and crushed to the ground, but he refused to let go of the knife, "They wanted to grab the knife, and Zhao Mouchao bit their hands", and let out a wild scream, frantically struggling, asking to let go of him. Worried that Zhao Mouchao would continue to commit murder, the five men and two pedestrians did not dare to let go and kept pressing him until the police arrived at the scene.
The case materials show that Zhao Mouchao, born in 1986, has a primary school education and is a native of Pingyu County, Henan Province.
According to the indictment made by the Guangzhou Municipal Procuratorate in October 2023, it was found that on July 7, 2023, Zhou Xue filed for divorce due to her husband Zhao's long-term domestic violence, and submitted a divorce application to the civil affairs department of Pingyu County, Henan Province. After the victim Zhou Xue went to Guangzhou City, Zhao Mouchao repeatedly forced the victim Zhou Xue to meet with him by telephone threats and other means, and threatened to kill his family.
On the evening of July 20, 2023, in order to prevent being injured by Zhao Mouchao, Zhou Xue and his relatives and friends Zhou Moujia, Zhou Mou B, Zhang Moubai, Guo Moupei, Zhou Mei, Zhang Mouyu and others went to the roadside at the gate of an industrial park on Cuiyuan Road, Liwan District, Guangzhou City to wait for Zhao Mouchao. At about 11 o'clock that night, Zhao Mouchao drove an electric car to the place, and after getting out of the car, he went straight to Zhou Xue, and was stopped by Zhou Moujia and others, and Zhao Mouchao recklessly stabbed Zhou Moujia, Zhou Mouyi, Zhang Moubai, Guo Moupei and Zhang Mouyu and others in the vital parts of the upper body, causing many injuries.
Seeing this, Zhou Xue immediately fled the place, Zhao Mouchao chased Zhou Xue with a knife, during which Zhou Xue fell to the ground, Zhao Mouchao immediately stabbed his upper body and left chest and other vital parts with a knife and stabbed him multiple times, and was blocked by Zhou Mou A, Zhou Mou B and others before he could not continue to harm him. After that, Zhao Mouchao was pressed to the ground by Zhou Moujia, Zhou Mouyi and others, during which he still resisted fiercely, wielding a knife and stabbing wantonly, intending to continue the murder. Zhou Xue died on the spot after being stabbed.
According to the forensic examination, Zhou Xue was found to have died of hemorrhagic shock due to the rupture of the heart caused by the action of a sharp object; Zhou Moujia was stabbed to the right chest and left forearm, and the degree of injury was second-degree minor; Zhou Mouyi, Zhang Moubai, and Guo Moupei were all slightly injured. Zhao Mouchao was arrested by the public security organs at the scene.
The Guangzhou Municipal Procuratorate believes that Zhao Mouchao ignored national laws and illegally deprived others of their lives, the facts of the crime are clear, the evidence is credible and sufficient, and he should be investigated for criminal responsibility for the crime of intentional homicide.
Zhou Mei told The Paper that Zhao Mouchao has not been doing his job for a long time, not only has he been abused by domestic violence, but he has also cheated many times.
