According to Thai media news, on April 23, Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports, Ms. Sudawan, revealed that the number of foreign tourists to Thailand has exceeded 11 million since last week. Compared to the previous week, tourists tended to slow down after Songkran last week (15-21 April) and returned after the festival.
According to Sudatwan, the top five tourists visiting Thailand last week were: China (120,615), Malaysia (75,780), India (40,347), Russia (31,727) and Laos (26,429). Among them, tourists from Laos and India increased by 35.61% and 11.9% from the previous week, while tourists from Malaysia, China and Russia decreased by 49.61%, 18.86% and 8.49% respectively from the previous week.
She further said that tourist arrivals are expected to remain stable this week, but the visa-free policy implemented by the Thai government and the increase in the number of flights will be positive factors to attract tourists. In summary, from January 1 to April 21, 2024, a total of 11,296,762 people traveled to Thailand, generating about 544.861 billion baht, and the top 5 tourists are as follows:
