[Preface]
On the 11th of this month, the United States, Japan and the Philippines hosted a trilateral summit in which the United States claimed that the summit had further fostered alliances among the three countries.
After this summit, the Philippines became even more arrogant, not only carrying out "shoulder-to-shoulder" joint military exercises with the United States, but also openly clamoring that Marcos Jr. did not know about the so-called "gentlemen's agreement."
This led to a further deterioration in relations between China and the Philippines, which was later invited to the Philippines at the Naval Forum, but the Philippines was openly absent.
Since this is the case, China will no longer show mercy to the Philippines, and the Central Military Commission has directly issued a warning. What has happened to the response of the mainland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs?
【撕毁"君子协定"】
Since Marcos Jr. came to power, China's relations with the Philippines have become increasingly strained, especially in the South China Sea, which has even jeopardized China's regional security.
Ever since the Philippine ship illegally "beached" at Ren'ai Jiao, the mainland has always agreed to allow them to send daily necessities to the ship and reminded them to tow the ship away as soon as possible.
Although China and the Philippines have reached a consensus on this matter for a long time, the Philippine side has never fulfilled its commitments, and this matter has already seriously violated China's territorial sovereignty.
Twenty-four years later, the Philippines has repeatedly ignored China's goodwill and reminders, and now it has repeatedly trespassed into China's waters without China's consent in an attempt to reinforce Philippine warships and eventually occupy Ren'ai Jiao permanently.
Some time ago, the Marcos Jr. administration was a little more restrained, and it will also explain their behavior, claiming that their behavior is not aimed at any country, including China.
But lately, the Philippines has become more arrogant, and on April 20, Philippine National Security Adviser Arnold issued a statement saying that the Marcos Jr. government had no idea that there was a so-called "gentlemen's agreement" with China.
He also hinted that even if the previous government had signed such an agreement with China, it would now be null and void, which is the first official statement issued by the Philippine side on the "gentlemen's agreement", which means that the Philippine government has officially torn up the agreement.
There are actually two reasons why the Philippines is so resolute in this statement, the first is to "bombard" his former ally, the Duterte family.
Because this "gentlemen's agreement" is an agreement reached with China when the Duterte administration was still in power, the main purpose is to solve the problems between China and the Philippines in the South China Sea.
After Marcos Jr. ascended to the throne, his relationship with the Durdute family became very poor, and he wanted to overturn all the achievements of Duterte's tenure.
Another reason is naturally related to the United States, which has now clearly shown its support for the Philippines, so Marcos Jr. has no choice but to do so.
Whether it is the deployment of the "Typhon" missile by the United States or the "shoulder-to-shoulder" military exercise, Marcos Jr. has given confidence that he feels that he has a backer, so he dares to openly argue with China.
[Response of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs]
China also responded to Marcos Jr.'s change of mind, and at a regular press conference on the afternoon of April 22, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin refuted the Philippine side's actions.
For many years, China has been humanitarian to the Philippines in dealing with the South China Sea issue, and now it has changed its attitude in the face of the Philippines that has backtracked itself.
Wang Wenbin directly said that the two sides had reached a consensus on the Ren'ai Jiao issue, and this consensus existed not only during the previous administration, but also in the current government.
This has been reflected in previous Philippine media reports, statements made by former government officials, and the actual handling of the Ren'ai Jiao issue by both sides.
After that, Wang Wenbin directly questioned the Philippines: "The Philippine side has repeatedly and categorically denied this, and we don't know what the Philippine side is worried about? What is it trying to cover up?"
The "gentlemen's agreement" has never been a secret, and only by abiding by this agreement can we effectively maintain the stability of the situation at Ren'ai Jiao.
【Western Pacific Naval Seminar】
From April 21 to 24, China hosted the 19th Annual Meeting of the Western Pacific Naval Forum, this time in Qingdao, China.
More than 180 delegates from 29 countries participated in the meeting, including key maritime leaders from at least 20 countries.
Even Russia's newly appointed commander-in-chief of the Navy rushed to the meeting, and only the Philippines was absent from the meeting without giving any reason.
At the meeting, Senior Colonel Liang Wei of the Chinese Naval Research Institute commented on the matter, and we, as the host country, sent invitations to all member and observer countries of the forum.
However, we regret the unexcused absence of the Philippines, as this forum is an important platform for strengthening maritime security cooperation and mutual understanding and trust among countries, and it would be a loss for any member not to participate.
Later, Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, also pointed the finger at the Philippines in his speech, and he warned the Philippines without naming it in front of the other 28 countries.
He said that China is willing to settle the dispute amicably with the Philippines, but will not allow goodwill to be abused, and warned countries that deliberately provoke disputes.
But let me tell you, the Philippines is absent for such no reason, and there is not even an explanation, and it is hard for anyone who looks at this matter to believe that the Philippine side is not deliberately targeting China.
【Conclusion】
Although the conflict between China and the Philippines has become more intense as time goes on, China has always been a country that likes to deal with things peacefully.
If the Philippines wakes up as soon as possible and gives up the idea of targeting China and no longer attacking China in the South China Sea, then China is naturally willing to sit down with the Philippines and have a good talk.
If the Philippines continues to stubbornly persist in its obsession, China will inevitably retaliate further and make the Philippines pay the price for its actions.
China's attitude has changed and it has issued a stern warning that the Philippines will not do whatever it wants with the support of the United States.
