On April days in the world, the fragrance of books is full of flowers. On April 23, on the occasion of the 29th World Book Day, the 2024 Huadu District "Half an Hour of Reading" activity and the "Scholarly Huadu Star Reading" Commendation Conference hosted by the Propaganda Department of the Huadu District Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Huadu District Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, and the Huadu District Education Bureau were held in the "Man Tingfang" lecture hall of the Huadu District Library, and the leaders of relevant units participated in the event. The event is divided into two parts: first, the award session, where the organizer awards outstanding readers, advanced units and individuals in reading promotion in the 2023 borrowing ranking. The second is the city's "half-hour reading together" session, which includes a video exhibition of Huadu's national reading, collective recitation and sitcom performances, and finally the writer shares the book "Guangzhou in Literature" and leads the whole city to read "Guangzhou Fu", etc., with a grand sense of ceremony and a strong bookish atmosphere, so that the citizens present have a unique reading experience.
Huadu District has held the city-wide "Half an Hour of Reading" activity on April 23 for six consecutive years, from 2019 when a unit of Huadu District Library held a reading activity alone, to this year's attraction of institutions and institutions, communities, enterprise parks, library branches and service points, cultural and training institutions, The school and other 44 co-reading points read together, and the co-reading team continued to grow, setting a record for the largest number of units participating in the co-reading in the whole city, creating a strong reading atmosphere in the whole district, and contributing cultural strength to the high-quality development of Huadu District and Huadu's construction of a growth pole in northern Guangzhou.
In order to actively promote the work of "Reading for All, Scholarly Huadu", under the guidance of the Propaganda Department of the Huadu District Party Committee, the Huadu District Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, and the Huadu District Education Bureau, the reading service efficiency of Huadu District has been increasing year by year, ranking in the forefront of all districts in the city for many years, and in 2023, the number of literature borrowed in the district will be 2.72 million volumes, especially the reading service efficiency of teenagers in Huadu District, which has ranked first in the city for nine consecutive years, and for four consecutive years, the youth in Huadu District have won the titles of "Champion Star" and "Literary Star" of the city's reading awards.
In recent years, with the care and support of the district party committee and district government, publicity, culture and education departments and all walks of life, the "1+N" general branch library service system of Huadu District Public Library has developed rapidly, and the "library-school cooperation" has flourished. At the same time, the quality and efficiency of various services will be improved, and a series of reading brands will continue to be launched and built to bring a more diversified reading experience to the general public.
