On the afternoon of April 22, the opening ceremony of the 2nd National Reading Conference of Jiading District and the 2024 Jiading Reading Month was held in Shanghai TSF Shopping Center. This year's Jiading Reading Month will create a panoramic, global and whole-process reading promotion service through more than 1,000 reading promotion activities in different forms, opening up a new way of reading in the city for citizens and unlocking a new experience of scholarly Jiading.

"I wandered between the bookshelves, looking for the hope hidden in the words. I hugged the books on my chest tightly, and looked up at the verdant greenery in the distance...... accompanied by soothing music, the poetry recitation of "Scholarly Jiading, with you and me" kicked off the event, bringing everyone into a world full of books. The first Confucius Temple in Jiading, Wuzhong, a Jiangnan-style library, and a 24-hour study room open all over the district...... These cultural landmarks are rejuvenated in the mouths of the reciters, showing a magnificent picture of the construction of Jiading's scholarly society.
Subsequently, a melodious recitation of "Walking in the South of the Yangtze River and Reading Jiading" was held. Famous writers and cultural celebrities read excerpts from articles that highlight the cultural context of Jiading in Shanghainese dialect, showing the profound historical and cultural heritage of Jiading to the fullest. Qian Cheng, a national first-class actor and burlesque artist, recited in Shanghai a fragment of writer Zhang Min's classic description of Jiading, "The Unusualness in the Story of Qiuxiapu".
"I am very happy to be able to read the story behind Qiuxiapu today. In the process of reading aloud, I am also constantly learning. Reading well and not reading well is secondary, and more importantly, we need to work together to create a language environment for the Shanghai dialect so that more people can understand and love the Shanghai dialect. Qian Cheng shared after the recitation.
Ximen Old Street carries the feelings of several generations of Jiading people. Sun Yu, a senior program host of Shanghai People's Radio, brought excerpts from the work "West Gate, West Gate", taking everyone to experience another important landmark in Jiading - West Gate. At the event site, the poem "Walking on the Qingming Riverside Map in Jiading" was first released at the reading meeting, bringing an audio-visual feast to the public.
It is worth mentioning that the "Walking in Jiangnan, Reading Jiading" brand Internet radio station was also launched on the Archimedes platform. Citizens can not only listen to the wonderful recitation of Jiading's works by the professional anchors of Shanghai People's Radio, but also have an in-depth understanding of Jiading's cultural history, folk customs and modern development, providing citizens with a new reading experience.

At the event site, the projects of "Jing'an Cultural Celebrity Jiading Tour" and "Yuanxiang Lake Reading Tour" were launched, the first batch of new child-friendly city reading spaces in Jiading District were awarded, the "Century Tinder" reading promotion base was settled in Jiading District Library, and the "Walking Jiangnan Reading Jiading" reading project was released, so that the fragrance of books spread all over the city.
In the special booth display area, the public can experience brand activities, cultural and creative products and excellent digital reading resources brought by different bookstores and reading clubs. It is reported that the "Walking in the South of the Yangtze River, Reading Jiading" reading project focuses on the themes of "reading Jiading history and humanistic stories", "reading Jiading architecture and traditional culture" and "reading Jiading character and city spirit", selects the top ten reading clubs in the district, and establishes a team of 100 "reading promoters" composed of famous celebrities, industry elites, my Jia reading club, rural readers and community readers, and organizes thousands of high-quality reading activities, attracting tens of thousands of people to participate, so that the fragrance of books spreads all over the city and the citizens feel the fun of "happy reading".
