In recent years, Nanfang County has continuously upgraded reading positions such as libraries, urban study rooms, community book houses, staff book houses, and rural book houses to expand reading space and make reading within reach.
Walking into the Zhuangyuan Cultural Branch of the Southern County City Study Room, rows of neat bookshelves are full of all kinds of books. In a quiet and elegant environment, readers are wandering through the sea of books.
"The environment is elegant, the collection is rich, and there is a great atmosphere to read here. Ms. Xia, who lives nearby, said that she likes a quiet reading space, and the study is not far from home, so she will come here to have a "date" with books in her spare time.
It is reported that the Nanfang County City Study Zhuangyuan Cultural Branch covers an area of about 100 square meters, with a collection of more than 3,000 books, with the theme of Zhuangyuan culture, showing the history of the Chen family and three masters in Daqiao Town, Nanfang County, and inheriting the style of diligent study and good reading.
"Relying on the support of the East-West Collaborative Cultural Exchange Project, we will create a unique urban study. According to the relevant person in charge of the Southern County Library, the Zhuangyuan Cultural Branch Library is only one of the county's nine major cultural theme urban study rooms. Since 2022, relying on the support of the East-West Collaborative Cultural Exchange Project, the county has selected cultural elements such as intangible cultural heritage, champions, fables, scholarly fragrance, science and technology, food, fishing, osmanthus, and party building (red), combined with the actual conditions of population density, transportation convenience, service radius, etc., to plan and build 9 themed urban study rooms. Each city study room has different styles and distinctive characteristics, which fully meets the reading needs of the general public and realizes the integration of public library services.
Since May 2022, 9 urban study rooms have been built in the county, with a construction area of more than 1,000 square meters, a collection of more than 40,000 books, 450 reading seats, and more than 300 public cultural service activities.
Urban study rooms make reading within easy reach, and in rural areas, rural book houses are also blooming everywhere.
In the farmer's bookstore in Yangjiaoshan Village, Dawang Town, the county's rich and complete books are neatly displayed on the bookcase, and the villagers sit around reading and studying, sometimes discussing with each other.
"The book house is right at my doorstep, and I came here to read books and newspapers in my spare time, and I learned a lot of practical knowledge. Villager Yong Xijun said.
Yong Taijun, secretary of the party branch of the village, introduced that in order to further meet the spiritual and cultural needs of the peasant masses to read books and newspapers, break through the bottleneck of the development of the rural bookstore, and improve the service efficiency of the farmer's bookstore, two years ago, with the help of the organization department of the county party committee and the county library and other departments, the village's farmer's bookstore updated its book resources, equipped with a digital reading all-in-one machine and an audio book culture wall, etc., which improved the reading environment and met the reading needs of different groups of people.
"Now that the environment is better, the number of people who come to borrow books has increased, and the popularity of the bookstore is becoming more and more popular. Yong Taijun said that farmers' horizons are becoming more and more broad, and their cultural needs are also more diverse.
In recent years, the county has further improved the county and rural three-level public cultural service system, and 491 villages (communities) have fully completed the upgrading of cultural rooms.

In recent years, Nanfang County has promoted national reading activities in depth, focusing on building a national reading activity brand of "Scholarly South, Reading and Enjoying Life", forming a strong atmosphere of loving reading, reading good books, and being good at reading in the whole society, so that reading has become a trend.
On April 19th, in Hongyanzi Primary School in Nanfang County, the students were full of energy and expressed their thirst for knowledge and love for reading in a variety of expressions. On the same day, Nanfang County held the launching ceremony of the 2024 National Reading and "4.23" World Book Day series of activities of "Scholarly South, Reading and Life" here to promote the deepening and practical implementation of national reading activities.
At the event site, the recitation of "Mulan Ci", the poetry recitation "Ode to the Motherland", the dance "Reading Tang Poems", the sitcom "Seedlings Grow" and other programs were staged in turn, and the children presented a wonderful audio-visual feast to the audience with full enthusiasm.
After the show, the flea book market was grandly "opened" under the careful arrangement of the "bosses". The students took out the books they had read and were idle and set up stalls in the class, including fairy tales and children's books that junior students loved, as well as encyclopedic knowledge books and various famous books that middle and senior students were keen on, and the "supply" was very sufficient. Eager "little customers" excitedly burrowed into the book market, looking for their favorite books.

"Life is limited, and there is no end to learning. Promote the reading of the whole people and sing the chapter of 'reading' in the south. Tao Lijun, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the county party committee, said that the launching ceremony of the national reading activity is only part of a series of activities, and the whole activity also includes "you choose the book, I pay", online reading programs, staff reading experience competition, education and sports system reading activities, library national reading activities, etc.
