Say "no" to school bullying!

These measures you should know:

School bullying is mainly embodied in several forms such as physical bullying, verbal bullying, cyberbullying and sexual bullying. What should you do if you are bullied at school?

Physical bullying

Physical bullying refers to physical assault such as pushing, hitting, kicking, bumping, biting, choking, pinching, pulling, as well as coercive behavior such as snatching property and demanding humiliating gestures.

When a student is physically bullied, the first thing to do is to keep themselves safe. Remain calm, find a way to deal with the abuser, and find an opportunity to escape or call for help. Inform parents and teachers immediately afterwards or report to the police, do not hide or endure alone, and remain highly vigilant after the incident is resolved.

After teachers and parents receive reports from students, they should first immediately stop the bullying that is happening, organize an investigation into the bullying incidents that have occurred as soon as possible, and contact the public security department in time when a vicious incident occurs. Attention should be paid to the rapid disciplining of the perpetrator and the psychological counseling of the victim, and continuing to pay attention to the physical and mental health of the victim. Multi-party communication and cooperation to ensure that the problem is completely solved, and resolutely prevent the recurrence of similar incidents.

Verbal bullying

Verbal bullying refers to verbal insults, ridicule, derogation, slander, and rumor-mongering, as well as encouraging people around you not to talk to someone, and deliberately snubbing or excluding others.

First of all, you must learn to ignore the verbal abuse and control your emotions, and you can also try to communicate with the verbal abuser to resolve misunderstandings and contradictions. If you can't solve it yourself, or if you encounter verbal bullying from teachers, you should tell your parents in time and seek a solution. Adjust your mindset afterwards, meet new people, and build a healthy circle of friends.

As the most common form of school bullying, verbal bullying seems to be milder than physical bullying on the surface, but because of its frequent and hidden characteristics, the psychological damage caused to students is no less than that of physical bullying. Teachers and parents should communicate more with their children and be vigilant against the psychological damage of verbal bullying to students. Once discovered, it is important not to let it go, but to actively intervene, communicate and guide, and avoid inappropriate words from hurting the child's self-esteem.

Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying refers to the dissemination of offensive or insulting remarks or humiliating videos against classmates online, and the publication of classmates' personal information and privacy to the public through the Internet.

In the face of cyber attacks, students should stay calm, ignore them, do not fight back, and seek help from teachers and parents in a timely manner, and if the cyberbullying situation is serious, they can call the police for help.

Teachers and parents should communicate more with students, keep abreast of conflicts between classmates and actively mediate. Teachers need to establish communication with both the perpetrator and the parents of the victim of cyberbullying to resolve the issue. Parents should pay attention to retaining information about cyberbullying against their children as evidence, and can contact the parents of the perpetrators through the school to provide relevant evidence if necessary. When the circumstances are serious, it is necessary to seek help from the police, which can be resolved through legal means.

Sexual bullying

Sexual bullying refers to mental sexual harassment, sexually explicit jokes, comments and teasing about sexual or body parts, physical aggression by teachers or classmates, etc.

When students encounter verbal sexual harassment, they should tell teachers and parents as soon as possible. When you encounter a sexual assault, you must immediately speak out and have the courage to resist. If the abuser has a tough attitude and a tendency to violence, avoid physical confrontation with him, improvise and run away. Remember not to hide the fact of victimization, tell parents and teachers as soon as possible, and you can also call the police, concealing it will only make the abuser more arrogant.

Teachers and parents should promptly stop and correct students who sexually harass others verbally or behaviorally. When an incident of sexual assault occurs, attention should be paid to protecting the scene and immediately reporting the case to the administrative department for education at the level above and the public security organ. Make every effort to do a good job in the protection of victimized students, pay special attention to protecting the privacy of victimized students, and on the basis of safeguarding the privacy and dignity of children, give more care and support, and help children get out of the shadows as soon as possible and return to normal life.
