The popular science platform continues to make efforts
The Municipal Association for Science and Technology has actively strengthened the construction of popular science education platforms, and has successively built 3 national-level popular science education bases, 17 provincial-level popular science education bases and 26 popular science demonstration schools, consolidating the foundation for the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talents. It has built a modern science and technology museum system integrating science and technology museums, mobile science and technology museums, and popular science caravans, making full use of popular science resources to boost the "double reduction" work, providing a learning platform for young people's growth, stimulating young people's curiosity and strong interest in exploring the mysteries of science, and creating a good atmosphere of learning, loving and using science.
On February 29 this year, the Yuxi Science and Technology Museum was opened, marking that Yuxi has a high-level science popularization position, and has built a high-quality platform for the public to participate in science popularization, learn science and technology, and experience science. In order to better serve the society and young people, the Yuxi Science and Technology Museum will be built into a scientific spirit education base, a cutting-edge science and technology experience base, a public safety and health education base, a science and education resource collection platform, and a popular science palace for disseminating cutting-edge knowledge. Since the trial operation of the Yuxi Science and Technology Museum, a number of research and popular science activities have been held in the museum, providing good scientific experience and services for the general public, especially young people.
At the same time, the Municipal Association for Science and Technology has also actively played the role of an online platform, and since 2023, 2,716 popular science knowledge and articles have been released through the Yuxi Science Popularization Network and the WeChat public account of the Municipal Association for Science and Technology, and 49 short videos have been launched. According to the results of the 13th Chinese Citizens' Scientific Literacy Sample Survey, in 2023, 10.6% of Yuxi citizens have scientific literacy, which is higher than the provincial average (10.36%).
The methods of popular science are rich and novel
The Municipal Association for Science and Technology will incorporate popular science education into the after-school service content, adopt the method of "please come in and go out", hire 70 scientific and technological talents and science popularization workers to participate in the after-school service of the school, and invite relevant experts to the counties (cities and districts) of Yuxi City to carry out the expert lecture tour of the "Big Hand in Small Hand - Science and Technology Dissemination Action" science popularization report group. At the same time, students are organized to carry out scene-based, interactive and inquiry-based extracurricular science education practice activities such as "experience science" and "field labor" in off-campus science education bases.
Since the beginning of this year, the Municipal Association for Science and Technology has relied on the Yuxi Science Popularization Demonstration Education Base to organize and carry out 4 theme activities to practice the core values of socialism, and carried out 1 scientific popularization volunteer service activity of "Striving for a New Journey of Science Popularization and Building the Chinese Dream with One Heart", with a total of more than 1,860 copies of publicity materials distributed and more than 1,300 beneficiaries.
In addition, the Municipal Association for Science and Technology gives full play to the role of the popular science caravan, relying on the existing exhibit resources and teaching concepts of the China Mobile Science and Technology Museum and the popular science caravan, carefully builds the "second classroom", organizes and carries out the joint tour of the popular science caravan into the campus and the community, and creates an atmosphere of science and technology education through "interactive" and "immersive" science experience classes.
From April 9th to 11th, the Municipal Association for Science and Technology organized the 2024 Science Caravan Joint Action, inviting member units to go deep into schools and communities in the mountainous towns and towns of Yuanjiang County to carry out science knowledge lectures, mental health counseling, free free clinics, earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, anti-cult and other knowledge publicity, and distributed more than 20,000 copies of relevant publicity materials such as "How to Protect Yourself in the Earthquake" and "Mysteries" on the spot, benefiting more than 5,000 students and the masses.
The popular science competition is colorful
The Municipal Association for Science and Technology takes the science and technology competition as the driving force, adopts the combination of competition to promote learning and learning competition, actively explores the training mode of scientific and technological innovation literacy of teenagers, encourages young people to participate in science and technology competitions, masters scientific research methods, and continuously improves innovation awareness and innovation ability.
Focusing on the implementation of the work requirements of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government on the "post-provincial era" in Yuxi, the 37th Yunnan Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition and the 7th National Youth UAV Competition (Yunnan Provincial Competition) have been held in our city;In 2023, 51 teams and 73 people from 15 schools in the city participated in the competition offline, and 51 municipal awards, as well as 9 outstanding instructors and 3 outstanding organization unit awards.
In the 38th Yunnan Provincial Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition and the 8th National Youth UAV Competition (Yunnan Provincial Competition), Yuxi City sent a total of 25 teams to participate in the Science and Technology Innovation Achievement Competition, Robot Creative Design Competition, Robot Innovation Challenge, Robot Basic Popularization Competition and other projects, and won 4 gold, 26 silver and 54 bronze results.
