So how did this chip come out of the face of US sanctions?
Some bloggers disassembled the Pura70 as soon as they got it to see what its chip was. Judging from the video, the code name of this chip is Hi36A0, and the code name of the next line is CV121. And the chip on the previous Huawei Mate60 series mobile phone, the code name is also Hi36A0, but the next line code is CV120, which is different here.
This basically means that Huawei Pura70Ultra is equipped with a new Kirin processor, and it is identified by software, and it is displayed as Kirin 9010, and the frequency is not the same, so it can be determined that Pura70 uses a new chip, and the Kirin 9000S on Mate60, it is obviously not the same chip.
The result of Baidu search is TSMC, will TSMC really go behind the back of the United States to OEM for Huawei? I think this is unlikely, once TSMC is discovered by the United States, it will be over, so this result should be inaccurate.
In the disassembly video posted by a digital blogger, the chip of Huawei Mate60 Pro has HISI (HiSilicon) written on it, and CN is written under the chip. In other words, the Kirin 9000S chip is produced in Chinese mainland.
Up to now, there are only a handful of manufacturers in the mainland that can OEM 7nm chips, and the most likely manufacturer to OEM for Huawei this time is SMIC, which is the first possibility.
If it is SMIC's foundry, then it may be a 14nm chip based on the N+2 process, and then use 3D stacking and other process packaging technologies to achieve the composite effect of Kirin 9000S.
For now, this is a possibility, but not very large. Because SMIC has been included in the "entity list" by the United States, it means that SMIC cannot use production lines containing American technology and equipment to OEM chips for Huawei. Secretly producing? That's even more unrealistic.
Naturally, if SMIC can handle 7nm, it will be good news, because it means that SMIC has achieved "de-beautification".
