Aston Villa announced on Tuesday local time that they have renewed the contract of manager Unai Emery until 2027, which quickly extinguished rumours that he will switch jobs to coach Bayern Munich.
According to local British media outlet BBC, Bayern Munich are interested in poaching Unai Emery to coach in order to replace Thomas Tuchel, who left the club in the summer. Aston Villa have decided to start with the terms of their contract until 2027 and will sit down with Unai Emery in the summer to discuss another long-term contract.
The Spaniard said: "I share the same vision with the management of Aston Villa. We have a good environment and the right structure to grow. We have to be diligent, smart decisions, good coordination, we will strive to get better and better, ambition is already the motto of this plan".
Unai Emery has already guided Aston Villa to seventh place in the Premier League last season, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League and returning to club Europe after the 2010/11 season. Aston Villa have improved this season and are now fourth in the Premier League and are aiming for a place in the Champions League and a place in the last four of the UEFA Cup.
