Recently, Qiu Minghua, a researcher at the Kunming Institute of Botany, received a congratulatory letter, a certificate and a medal from Professor Tyminskiy Vladimir, President of the Presidium of the European Academy of Natural Sciences. After a rigorous academic review and a complex selection process, Qiu Minghua was elected as a foreign member of the European Academy of Natural Sciences.

According to public information, Qiu Minghua was born in March 1963 in the ancient city of Lijiang and is of Naxi nationality. He received a bachelor's degree in science from Peking University in 1984 and a doctorate degree in science from Peking University in 1996. He is currently a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Qiu Minghua has long been engaged in the research of the structure, biological activity and mechanism of resource phytochemical components, and has always focused on the research and development of key technologies for the development, utilization, protection and industrialization of resource phytochemistry. More than 800 new natural products have been discovered from medicinal plants, including about 40 novel skeletons, and more than 380 academic papers have been published.
Qiu Minghua has 66 national invention patents and 4 certificates for research and development of health foods. In 1999, 2004, the 6th and 11th China Yangling Agricultural Fair, the highest award "Houji Golden Image Award" and "Houji Special Award", in 2001, the China Association for Science and Technology awarded the title of "National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker", in 2009, he won the second prize of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institution and Local Cooperation Individual Award, in 2010 he was awarded the "Innovation Achievement Award" by the China Association for the Promotion of Industry, Education and Research, and in 2015 he was awarded the title of "Outstanding Alumnus" of Peking University......
Qiu Minghua took the lead in the research and development of the world's first 50%, 60% and 70% high-content natural pyrethroid production technology systems, and promoted and applied them on a large scale, took the lead in establishing China's pyrethroid quality control technology and standard system, formed the mainland pyrethroid natural pesticide industry, and won the first prize (first) of Yunnan Science and Technology Progress Award in 2020. He has made significant contributions to the research of phytochemistry and plant resource development. The election will be conducive to the win-win cooperation between the mainland and European countries in the frontier research of phytochemistry and plant resource utilization, and promote academic exchanges and promotion.
