According to the annual report on the construction of Guangzhou's "City of Libraries" 2023, the number of visitors to the city's public libraries will exceed 30 million for the first time in 2023, with a total of 32.6339 million visitors, reaching the highest level in the past, and the average number of visits per capita will be 1.73, a year-on-year increase of 96.59%;
The number of borrowed literature in the city was 36,132,500, which was also the highest in the past years, an increase of 10.72% from 32,635,100 in 2019.
The statistics of the service system of the general branch library of the city's 11 districts also show that the public has a strong demand for public library services, such as the number of public library readers, the number of borrowed literature, and the number of registered readers in the public libraries in each district are 23.671 million, 20.3003 million, and 2.1406 million respectively, accounting for 72.54%, 56.18%, and 38.29% of the city's total, respectively. The number of visitors to public libraries in all districts exceeded 1 million.
