　　On the eve of the Guangzhou Auto Show on April 23, GAC Toyota's 2024 Sena was officially launched, with an official guide price of 284,800-395,800 yuan. Compared with the old model, the official price of the 2024 Saina is reduced by 25,000 yuan. The 25,000 yuan includes the reduction of the suggested retail price of 10,000 yuan and the rights and interests of the official APP of 15,000 yuan. A total of 9 sub-models have been launched, including models equipped with the E-Four electric all-wheel drive system, further enriching the product lineup to meet the needs of different consumers.

Review of the exterior and interior of the Sena

       In terms of appearance, Sena adopts Toyota's latest design concept, and the official said that its shape is derived from the Japanese Shinkansen "bullet train", so the overall design is bold and aggressive, and shapes a number of large "muscles". The irregular bladed LED headlight clusters on either side are narrow and aggressive, with a chrome trim strip that shows the "bohemian" silhouette to the fullest, and large air deflectors on either side of the envelope improve the car's aerodynamics.

       Unlike Alpha's "tall and thin" body, Sena has a "strong" body to ensure the lateral seating space in the car. At the same time, the side design has a complex line design, especially near the tail to form a muscular curved surface, it is hard to believe that this is still an MPV.

       At the rear, the new car creates a rich sense of hierarchy through a number of lines criss-crossed, with a one-piece spoiler at the top, which is the finishing touch, and the LED tail light clusters on both sides show the contour through the LED light strip, and cleverly extend the light feet to integrate with the rear fenders, while the lower tail bar echoes the front bumper, with a large honeycomb grille with blackened decoration, full of sporty feeling.

       Like the exterior, the interior of the Sena is also a continuation of the design of the overseas version of the model. The interior design style of this set is very similar to TNGA's Highlander and Camry, and it can be said that TNGA unifies Toyota's interior design. However, compared with some common MPV models, this interior design has a little more dynamic and personality elements, especially the hierarchical design of the passenger area, which breaks the rigid design atmosphere of other MPVs.

       The overall design, configuration and space performance of the 2024 Saina are not particularly different from the old model. Its main changes are reflected in three aspects.

There are three core changes to the new car

8155 chip on board

       The first change is the upgrade of the in-vehicle system, which uses the 8155 chip, and the in-depth cooperation between the in-vehicle system and Huawei.

       This set of car machine system has actually been seen on the previous ninth-generation Camry, and this time GAC Toyota installed this latest car machine system on the 2024 car machine system, in order to further enhance the intelligence of the car machine system.

       The hardware of this car machine system is 8155 chip with 12G running memory, so the whole experience will be very smooth, and it can realize continuous voice dialogue function. Jointly developed with Huawei, the voice interaction system supports 30 seconds of continuous listening without repeated wake-up, and supports multi-language doping instruction recognition. In addition, the system supports voice control of the smart home function, which is linked to the HUAWEI HiLink function, so if you have a home device that supports the HUAWEI HiLink function in your home, you can realize remote voice control through the in-vehicle system.

       At the same time, this system supports mobile phone interconnection on CarPlay, CarLife and HiCar platforms. The 2024 Saina achieves a higher dimensional interaction in terms of intelligence, with three screens throughout the car providing drivers with all kinds of information they need, and a 12.3-inch central control screen with a 12.3-inch LCD instrument cluster and AR-HUD head-up display system, which takes the intelligence of the new Saina one step further.

Alpha has introduced the same integrated seat

       If the comfort of the old Sena wasn't enough, the 2024 Sena has been given a targeted boost. The way to do this is to introduce the same first-class seats as the Alpha, and to upgrade the interior color scheme and NVH accordingly.

       The first-class seats in the second row support 16-point massage, and use high-grade Bavarian leather, which enhances the touch of the seat and the high-end texture of the ride. The seat can provide passengers with a zero-gravity lying position, and there are electric seat adjustment buttons, mobile phone storage slots, flip cup holders, integrated tray tables, Type-C ports, etc., and the seat itself also provides heating and ventilation functions.

       At the same time, the second-row seats can be moved longer, which provides a more spacious experience for second-row passengers. The second-row seats slide 470 mm and the central aisle is 225 mm wide, making it easy for third-row passengers to get in and out.

       In addition, the new Sena has been optimised for the interior and NVH. In terms of NVH, the new car has added double-glazed glass in the second row to improve sound insulation. In terms of interior, the new car uses a large area of off-white interior, which enhances the warmth of the car and makes it easier for passengers to get a relaxed atmosphere. The leather coverage rate of the whole car has reached 85%, and the bottom of the center console, the armrests of the door panels, and the contact parts of the legs are all wrapped in fine leather.

The HEV+E-Four powertrain has been added

       With the addition of this powertrain, the 2024 Kwansena is the only MPV in the joint venture to have a fully electrified drivetrain. The E-Four system adds a rear-axle motor to the Sena that drives the wheels independently.

       Compared with the traditional four-wheel drive system, the E-Four electric four-wheel drive system does not have a traditional propeller shaft, and the rear axle is completely driven by an independent motor, so its system weight does not increase much, and there is no excessive transmission loss, and the power system has a high efficiency. In addition, the strong power provided by the electric motor is important for the MPV, which can improve the overall power response of the Sena, improve the acceleration performance of the car, and be able to have a more agile performance when starting on urban roads or overtaking on highways. And this dexterity can directly and effectively improve the comfort of passengers.

       The powertrain is capable of providing a wide range of torque distribution from 100:0 to 20:80. The benefit of this is the ability to cope with different road conditions. For example, on slippery roads, the powertrain can better distribute torque to the four wheels, improving the stability of the vehicle during acceleration and cornering, and reducing the potential risk of loss of control. In the event of a need to accelerate overtaking or a ramp start with a full load, the quick response of the rear motor also makes the whole process safer.

       Although the overall changes of the 2024 Sena are not particularly large, for a normal facelifted model, its changes are very targeted. On the one hand, it is crucial to provide Saina with the latest intelligent experience, because intelligence is a part that more and more Chinese consumers value. The addition of first-class seats and the E-Four electric all-wheel drive system has improved the comfort and safety of the vehicle. For Sena, the role of the E-Four is mainly reflected in more stable handling, rather than for a more intense driving experience, the new car can cope with more complex road conditions, and at the same time can further improve the experience comfort of rear passengers, which I think is very necessary.
