Editor's note:

The smoke and rain of March unveiled the warm spring, and the interpretation of Chinese studios ushered in the 10th anniversary of its establishment. In the past ten years, with the care and support of all parties, this small team has been moving forward, from planning news talk shows, to launching various short videos, to filming series of documentaries and documentary films. Looking ahead, the mountains are endless, so what's the matter. In special moments, you always have to leave some words. Today, we are launching an article co-authored by interns from Interpreting China Studios, "I am Interpreting Internships in Chinese Studios".

In the past ten years, the studio has planned and produced nearly 100 documentaries and short documentary videos, which are inseparable from the efforts of interns. Interns, as the fresh blood of the studio, also bring new vitality and perspective to the studio.

Although they are young, they dare to explore and practice, and during their internships, they also participate in various projects in the studio, from basic data collation to creative planning, from copywriting to actual implementation, they are there in every link. Their work is small, but it is an integral part of the success of every project.

Although the internship time is short, we sincerely hope that the knowledge and experience they have learned here will be beneficial to their future careers, so that they can grow in practice, surpass in challenges, and jointly contribute to promoting Chinese stories to the world.

As an undergraduate student majoring in Visual Communication, I am always looking for possibilities that allow me to participate in real-life, grounded design work, and I am grateful to Interpretation China Studio for providing such an opportunity. The three-month internship has passed one-third of the time, and I have gone from trying to take over, analyze, and understand the content of my work, and now I have advanced to a relatively smooth stage, during which the debugging and modification are inseparable from the support and guidance of the seniors in the studio, and in the process of communicating with seniors with different responsibilities, I have also been constantly exposed to and learned the way to face and solve problems in real work situations, which are valuable experiences that cannot be provided by university assignment practice.

In my eyes, Interpreter China Studio is a dynamic young team, the working partners are friendly, cheerful and helpful, and everyone's serious and responsible attitude towards the work is always infecting and impressing.

Although my internship period is only three months, I believe that it will be a happy and rewarding thing to produce a documentary in the team of Interpreter China Studio, and I sincerely hope and wish Interpreter China Studio to create more new achievements in the future.

Just after the Spring Festival in 2024, I received an internship opportunity from Interpreting China Studio, which is undoubtedly a relief for me, an international student who has just returned to China and is facing confusion and employment choices.

As a studio focusing on documentary creation under CIPG, Interpret China Studio has created a large number of excellent documentaries, spreading Chinese culture at home and abroad, and letting the world know and understand China.

During my internship, I participated in the compilation of conference minutes, the writing of the interview outline and expert interview assistance for the promotional film of "The Stars of the Great Song Dynasty", the translation of bilingual documentary scripts, and the first draft of the documentary event operation plan and publicity plan.

In the friendly and positive working atmosphere of the studio, I have not only broadened my horizons, but also increased my work skills and professionalism, and I am also full of expectations for my future work.

The prologue of the past, the future can be expected

March 11, 2024 is my first day of internship at Interpretive China Studio. When I first came to my workstation that day, I was still a little nervous and looking forward to getting familiar with and adapting to a new and unfamiliar environment and joining this warm family.

Although I have interned in various industries before, I have gained some experience and skills, but the field of this internship is very different from my previous experience and major. In the first week of my internship, I saw that the other teachers in the office were working hard every day, and the office was quiet all day. At first, I felt an invisible pressure enveloping me, but as I got to know the teachers in the office, this pressure gradually dissipated. If there is something I don't understand at work, the teachers will help me enthusiastically, and I will ask the teachers in time when I encounter difficulties and problems.

In the short internship period, I have also gained a little from the initial ignorance, and then to the current gradual familiarization, with curiosity, gradually learning and exploring the relevant knowledge of documentaries, so that I can further experience, enrich and improve in this process. In the future, I will continue to do my job well, be conscientious, patient and responsible, learn with an open mind, and cherish and grasp this internship opportunity.

The road to chasing dreams is far away

During my university years, I had a passion and longing for film, and I was eager to find an internship to improve and hone my professional production skills. Luckily, I met the warm family of Interpreter China Studio.

During my internship, I worked on a variety of trivial but meaningful work. He not only briefly translated the studio's works, but also participated in the conference discussions of different projects, such as the work coordination meeting of the documentary film "Xiang Xingji", and the working meeting of the second "New Era, New Image" Sino-foreign joint creation project. I also encountered an important moment to interpret the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China Studio, and I was also fortunate to participate in the editing of the "Ten Years of Chunhua" column of the studio's official account. Through this work, I gradually learned about the various projects in the studio and the work of the teachers, which also inspired and inspired me.

During the internship, I also encountered many problems and difficulties. But under the careful guidance of my teacher, I gradually understood the problems and learned how to solve them. For example, when I first participated in a meeting, due to my lack of experience in recording meeting minutes, there was a rudimentary mistake of incomplete recording. Later, through the guidance of my teacher, I gradually mastered the method of grasping the key points and recording the content of the meeting flexibly.

As a newcomer to the field of documentary film, I know that I still have a lot to offer. However, I believe that as long as we have a positive and optimistic attitude, and through continuous learning and hard work, we will definitely be able to achieve something in the field of production in the future.

Knowing the lack and forging ahead, looking at the distant mountains and moving forward

Coming to Interpret China Studio for internship, the first time I stepped out of the school gate to a new environment, I was full of anticipation and a little overwhelmed, everything was new in my eyes, and it was not labeled, but fortunately, my mentors, colleagues and friends were very supportive, patiently communicated with me, and helped me understand the work process.

With the deepening of the internship, I began to get in touch with the actual operation work, and also participated in the planning and preliminary research of the promotional video. In this process, I deeply realized the importance of communication and coordination skills, and consciously adjusted my communication thinking and language expression. At the same time, I also realized that every article and short film I usually come into contact with is the result of team division of labor and fine cooperation, and I also began to pay attention to the division of labor and operating logic behind the small things that I am accustomed to.

This internship has broadened my horizons in my work, and when I audited the 2nd "New Era, New Image" Sino-foreign Joint Creation Program Cooperation Conference, I learned about the complicated process steps behind a project, and also realized the lack of my thinking vision and communication skills. For me, everything that happens in my work is valuable, it is a process of trying new things, and I will learn from my successes and learn from my failures.

The future has just begun, and there is still a long way to go, and in the next two months, I will continue to think about learning and grow with my expectations and trust in my teachers.

Break out of the cocoon into a butterfly and move forward with your dreams

Before I came to Interpreting China Studio, I was more respectful and interested in Interpreting China Studio, and I thought that making documentaries was a very happy and interesting job.

In the process of internship, it was only a few days to quickly refresh my cognition. I lamented that I was not a big fledgling, and I had nothing to do. What I think of as "knowing" is actually only a small part of the studio, and it is also a drop in the ocean of documentary filmmaking.

I am currently writing a review article of the short documentary video "Dream Chaser Acrobat" for the "IPPLAN Let's Talk" column of the IPPLAN New Era and New Image Official Account. "Dream Chaser Acrobat" shows the youthful appearance of Chinese acrobatics in the inheritance of continuous innovation and development through three generations of old, middle-aged and young acrobats. "The three sets of stories are different, but their eyes are very impressive, whether it is Kong Wei, the Russian couple Vitaly and Yulia or Cao Kai, all of them show a deep love for the art of acrobatics, this love has risen to a sense of joy from the heart, it is the kind of "choose one thing, for the rest of your life" eyes, this kind of eyes and attitude, I am very impressed. "Director Xing Dixi talked about his thoughts in the interview that I will never forget. The art of acrobatics transcends time, breaks through communication barriers, and constantly creates new forms of acrobatics, all of which are captured in documentary images.

As a fledgling, I gradually realized that what I was doing was so important and meaningful, and I hope that I will have the opportunity to participate in the production of more documentaries in the future, and grow forward in the footsteps of my teachers.

The years are like a song, and the feelings are still the same. I sincerely wish that the Chinese studio will flourish and continue to innovate.
