As an important railway passenger transportation hub in southwest China, Nanning East Railway Station has a single-day passenger flow of more than 150,000 passengers during peak periods. Once, Gao Mingwei found an ownerless schoolbag at the south entrance of Nanning East Railway Station. When I opened it, I saw that there was a college student graduation certificate, a degree certificate, and a job interview notice for the day. Gao Mingwei immediately contacted the station to broadcast the search for the person, and quickly called up the monitoring playback.
Soon, a student-looking traveler arrived in a hurry. Upon inquiry, it was learned that the passenger was going to take the bus to attend a job interview that day, and if she lost the important documents and materials in her school bag, she would miss this very important opportunity for her.
At that time, it was only 15 minutes away from the drive, and the passengers were very excited to be able to find the schoolbag, and Gao Mingwei was also very pleased to be able to return the schoolbag to the owner.
It can be as small as an ID card and a piece of personal clothing, as large as a brand-name watch, an acceptance letter, and an important contract...... In the 11 years of duty in the passenger post, Gao Mingwei has recovered more than 7,000 lost items for the passengers, recovered nearly 10 million yuan of economic losses for the passengers, and received more than 310 pennants, including 28 in the 2024 Spring Festival alone.

Back in 1997, Gao Mingwei served in a guard platoon of the Guangzhou Military Region and was a guard squad leader.
Turning over Gao Mingwei's family photo, six members of the family, including him and his wife, had joined the army, leaving footprints in the camp of the navy, land and air force to protect their families and defend the country. "Serving the people" is the inheritance of the family style of this military family, and as a people's policeman, Gao Mingwei always keeps in mind the main responsibility and main business of fighting crime.
In April 2018, Gao Mingwei learned that a fugitive named Li, who had been arrested for fraud, took the Z6 passenger train from Nanning to Beijing West, and immediately organized the police on duty to get on the train and arrest him. After blocking the carriage, in order not to startle the snake, he decided to go forward to check alone.
After arriving at the target seat, the surrounding passengers said that they had not seen Li, and persuaded Gao Mingwei to go to other carriages to find it as soon as possible on the grounds that the train was about to depart. Gao Mingwei, who has many years of experience working with the masses, immediately noticed the abnormality. He patiently explained the serious consequences of harboring and covering up to the surrounding passengers, and guided them to help the police find the suspect. In the end, Gao Mingwei and his colleagues arrested Li in the toilet of another carriage.
After working at the station for a long time, Gao Mingwei has practiced the "eagle eye" of "scanning" the suspect from tens of millions of passengers.
During the 2024 Spring Festival, when Gao Mingwei asked passengers for clues about lost items, he noticed that a passenger waiting for the train was unable to answer the question.
Based on years of experience, he immediately took him to the police station for further investigation. After verification, the man did have a history of drug trafficking and drug abuse, and was sentenced to three years in prison in 2015.
"The people's police must stand up when the people need it!" Gao Mingwei hopes that his protection can bring passengers a full sense of security.
On February 1, 2023, Ms. Zheng suddenly found that her 4-year-old son was missing on the way to Nanning East Railway Station, and she found Gao Mingwei in a hurry.
After receiving the request for help, he immediately split up with his colleagues. However, finding a child in the waiting hall with an area of more than 50,000 square meters is not easy.
"There is a boy suspected of being lost near the A18 ticket gate!" Gao Mingwei immediately went after hearing the shouts of his colleagues on the intercom, and hurried to the ticket gate, but did not find the child.
"Children are small and active, so they can't just stand and look for them, they have to lean over and look at them. Gao Mingwei said to his companions. Sure enough, behind a black suitcase, the companions found Ms. Zheng's son squatting on the ground and playing.
Over the years, Gao Mingwei has helped more than 260 lost children and the elderly to reunite with their families, more than 300 passengers with sudden illnesses have been successfully treated, more than 400 passenger disputes have been mediated, and more than 200 fugitives have been arrested. Since 2017, he has handled more than 300 public security cases and more than 50 criminal cases.

At the beginning of 2020, Gao Mingwei was transferred to the Nanning East Railway Station Public Security Police Station. Due to the high passenger flow at the station, it is common for passengers to lose their luggage.
How to reduce the rate of packet loss? He pondered repeatedly, and summarized the rules of passengers entering and leaving the station from the common requests for help for lost items. For example, a few minutes before the departure of each train is the time when passengers' luggage is most likely to be left behind. The first thing he does when he goes to work every day is to check with the station for the latest train schedules. Before the train departs, he will rush to the corresponding ticket gate to carry out safety publicity, effectively control the luggage that has been dropped, prevent the wrong take, and facilitate the first contact with the owner to return. In this way, efficiency is quickly improved.
With the establishment of the "Fengqiao Police Station", the unit specially set up a service brand of Aimin - "Mingwei Mobile Service Post", and distributed a four-wheeled electric vehicle to him, which made it more convenient for him to serve passengers. In his work, he has always adhered to the "four gangs and four diligence" work method: "information help, team help, rule of law help, comprehensive help, eye diligence, mouth diligence, hand diligence, foot patrol", and achieved good results.
In April 2023, Gao Mingwei ruptured the ligament in his right knee due to work, and nearly one-third of his meniscus and patella were removed, and he was recognized as a Grade 9 disability.
