What is the current status of cancer diagnosis and treatment, how to detect diseases as soon as possible, and carry out scientific prevention and treatment? The "Healthy China Action - Cancer Prevention and Control Action Implementation Plan (2023-2030)" clearly requires that we should promote cancer prevention and control, advocate healthy lifestyles, popularize health knowledge, mobilize the masses to participate in cancer prevention and control, strengthen cancer prevention, screening, early diagnosis and early treatment, and scientific research, and concentrate superior forces to make key breakthroughs in key links such as pathogenesis, prevention and treatment technology, resource allocation, and policy guarantees.

In Wu Xinhong's view, the uneven distribution of medical resources is also a major difficulty in cancer prevention and treatment. In order to improve the homogeneity level of tumor diagnosis and treatment in the region, Hubei Provincial Cancer Hospital established a breast center as early as 1992, and after more than 30 years of unremitting efforts by the disciplinary team, it was approved to establish the Hubei Provincial Breast Disease Prevention and Treatment Research Center in 2000, the Hubei Provincial and Wuhan Breast Cancer Clinical Research Center in 2019, the first batch of standardized diagnosis and treatment quality control centers for breast cancer in the National Cancer Center in December 2020, and the national key clinical specialty construction discipline in 2023.
Chen Yuan, chief physician of the Department of Oncology of Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, said that due to the different causes of tumors, the diagnosis and treatment effect of the same treatment method for different patients may not be the same.
In Chen Yuan's view, tertiary prevention is the key. Previously, the World Health Organization (WHO) divided the prevention of cancer into three levels: primary prevention mainly focuses on risk factors to prevent the occurrence of tumors, secondary prevention focuses on early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment in order to achieve better treatment results, and tertiary prevention mainly focuses on patients with advanced tumors to improve the quality of life and prognosis of cancer patients.

"Most people can take primary prevention on their own, such as quitting smoking, limiting alcohol, eating less pickled foods, and staying away from radioactive materials. Chen Yuan introduced that when a tumor is diagnosed, secondary prevention should be initiated: early treatment to achieve the goal of radical cure. When the tumor is already in an advanced state, tertiary prevention should be initiated, that is, to reduce the occurrence and development of tumor complications, and try to ensure the quality of life of patients. Chen Yuan called on the public to establish a comprehensive health awareness in their daily lives and be the first person responsible for their own health.
The emergence of new drugs has opened up new hope for cancer diagnosis and treatment
The "Healthy China 2030" Planning Outline proposes that by 2030, the health management of chronic diseases for the whole population and the whole life cycle should be realized, and the overall five-year survival rate of cancer should be increased by 15%.
In recent years, with the continuous emergence of innovative drugs and the iterative upgrading of diagnosis and treatment models, the benefits of HER2-positive breast cancer patients have been significantly improved, and early breast cancer can even achieve the goal of cure, and the diagnosis and treatment of intermediate and advanced breast cancer has gradually moved closer to the chronic disease management model. At present, the 5-year survival rate of patients with early-stage HER2-positive breast cancer in mainland China has exceeded 90%, and on the road from "seeking treatment" to "seeking healing", patients increasingly hope to achieve a comprehensive cure from the physical, psychological and social levels. "Clinically, we not only pursue to prolong the survival time of patients, but also to improve the quality of life of patients, and at the same time strengthen the humanistic care for patients. "Breast cancer patients need to establish intravenous access when they are treated with intravenous infusion, which may pose a risk of infection and vascular damage if not done properly. Yan Yunli, head nurse and chief nurse of the Breast Center of Hubei Provincial Cancer Hospital, said that the subcutaneous dosage form has broken the limitations of existing intravenous therapy, and the change of administration mode has greatly shortened the time of patients and their families in the hospital, providing breast cancer patients with a more efficient, more convenient and more flexible innovative treatment model, so that patients can enhance their sense of self-identity and return to a healthy and free life as soon as possible.

On the other hand, Yan Yunli believes that the shortening of treatment time has also saved medical resources for hospitals and improved the bed turnover rate. In addition, the advent of innovative drugs for the treatment of tumors in subcutaneous dosage forms can also help patients in remote areas obtain homogeneous treatment.
It is worth mentioning that in the past five years, Hubei Provincial Cancer Hospital has completed the data collection of 22 tumor registration points in the province and the breast cancer screening and cause of death investigation of breast cancer patients in 70% of the province, established a breast disease database and breast cancer biobank for the first time in Hubei Province, and carried out large-scale research on breast cancer, which is expected to help make new breakthroughs in tumor diagnosis and treatment.
