Point situation
The scheme is located in Andingqiao Community, Wan'an Street, Tianfu New District, and is an interior renovation and upgrading design based on the existing structure, with the target function of being a community innovation and sharing center.
The existing structure defines two small atriums, with poor spatial perception and sightlines. The function of the part wrapped by the atrium is transportation and toilets, which does not make good use of the opportunity to dialogue with the atrium brought by the spatial location.

Design analysis
In the face of the existing framework, the first thing we thought of was how to break through the structural constraints and activate the two small atriums that were originally closed to each other, so as to create an open and inclusive "community engine" that can accommodate and generate endless possibilities.
The plan aims to create a community pole with strong gravitational force by using the existing structure, introducing "non-ordinary" experiences to residents' daily situations, so as to attract crowd participation, and then create a "full life cycle" community center full of wisdom and vitality for residents through supporting functions and service activities.
The core consideration of the scheme design is how to maximize the energy of the space. We partially removed the restroom that was originally wrapped in an atrium and merged the two small atriums into one. At this moment, the originally divided and closed space disappeared, replaced by a thrilling "Valley of Wisdom".
A "green pulse" is placed in the valley – starting from the sunken space of the atrium and winding to the roof garden on the north side of the fifth floor, while connecting the main public service spaces on each level. We hope to create an atrium full of vitality and vitality, with an outline that dominates all levels of functions, and a warm and lasting stimulation of the community.

Reflections on community spaces
For the renewal of community space, it is inevitable to answer a relatively general question, that is: in what way and energy value should the updated community space intervene in the daily life of community residents? Let's try to dismantle this question.
First, clarify the core contradictions. The essence of the above problem is that the core contradiction of the site comes from whether it is "things" or "people"? For the coldness of the empty city, what is needed is to let people come in, mainly the problem of "people".
Second, define the dimensions and intensity of intervention. Based on the contradiction between primary and secondary, we will try to come up with measures to prescribe the right medicine. Does a sick community space need mild medication or intense and precise stimulation like acupuncture, which largely determines the final design presentation - we may have only optimized the transportation, facilities and formats of the site, or made a strong confrontation and placed a "WOW" node for the daily scenes of residents.
Finally, from the individual context to the community context. The renewal of community space will eventually return to the individual as a user, and increasing the frequency of exchange of individual situations is an effective means to enhance the vitality of the overall community. We believe that for a gentle and vibrant community place, the most important thing is to increase the "contact area" between people and situations, so as to strengthen and transfer energy between individuals.
