In the late spring, as the temperature warms up, the pepper farmers in the villages of Miping Township, Kaiyang County, seize the agricultural time, go all out to carry out the transplanting and planting of peppers, and play a spring ploughing "pepper symphony" in the field, laying a solid foundation for this year's pepper harvest and farmers' income increase.
"Don't punch too deep, the leaves must be left outside when transplanting, and seal with fine soil after transplanting, not too tight," Chen Bangyu, the person in charge ......of the pepper planting base in Wuzhai Village, explained while demonstrating the operation.
Walking into the pepper planting base of Wuzhai Village, more than 20 workers under the guidance of Chen Bangyu, methodically carried out the process of mulching, punching, transporting seedlings, transplanting, watering, etc., and after a while, the rows of green pepper seedlings were neatly arranged on the film, raising their heads and chests, radiant, and a bumper harvest was in sight.

Chen Bangyu is a native of Wuzhai Village, Miping Township, and has been circulating land in Baiyi Town, Wudang District, Fengsan Town, Kaiyang County, and other places in recent years to plant peppers, and the planting varieties are mainly sharp peppers and line peppers.
"I have a large number of regular customers in Guangdong, Guangxi and other places, as long as the peppers can be grown, I basically don't have to worry about selling. Chen Bangyu introduced that now the development of his hometown is getting better and better, and he also wants to make a contribution.
In recent years, Miping Township, Kaiyang County, has closely focused on the development direction of strong agriculture, beautiful countryside and rich farmers, based on its own resource endowment, developed characteristic industries, vigorously cultivated pepper characteristic industries, continued to promote the development of pepper technology, industrialization and clustering, and developed "small pepper" into a "big industry" for farmers to continue to increase their income.

The busyness of the pepper planting base not only brings the hope of a bumper harvest, but also provides employment opportunities for the local people. So that many young adults and left-behind elderly people who are unable to go out to work can work nearby to increase their family income. The number of workers employed by the base is about 25 per day, and the number of people can reach 50 during the picking period, and the daily income of each person can reach 100 yuan, which effectively promotes the local economic development.
Up to now, the township has a concentrated and continuous planting area of more than 350 acres, involving more than 70 farmers, and the land transfer fee per mu is 200 yuan. More than 100 people from the surrounding villagers were recruited to work in the base to help farmers achieve the dual income of "land rent + wages".
It is reported that the transplanting of pepper seedlings in Miping Township is nearing completion, and it is expected that all transplanting will be completed by the end of April, and the harvest period will enter in mid to late July. It is estimated that the total output of 350 acres of pepper will reach about 1.05 million catties, with a total output value of about 2.1 million yuan.
