Today (April 23) is the annual "World Book Day", on this special day, Xianxia Xincun Street held a unique parent-child self-made picture book activity of "Gathering in a Child-Friendly Space to Draw a Rainbow of Knowledge Picture Books" in the library on the second floor of the East Cultural Center.
The event set up a number of interesting links, including parent-child reading time, picture book creation workshop, story sharing session, etc., which attracted parent-child families in the jurisdiction to participate, which not only enhanced the interaction between family members, but also cultivated children's interest and creativity in reading.
At the beginning of the activity, parents and children selected their favorite books, and then shared their reading experiences with each other. In this process, the children felt the joy of reading, while the parents relived the memories of reading in their childhood.
After the parent-child reading, the children made their own picture books under the guidance of professional teachers. From conceiving the storyline to drawing the illustrations, every step is full of creativity and imagination. Parents also actively participated, discussing, designing, and working with the children to complete the artwork. At the end of the day, each group of children completed their own picture book creations, which were presented at the end of the activity.
"We created a story about the tortoise and hare race...... In the picture book display session, each family took the stage to show their picture books and tell the story behind them. Through this parent-child activity, residents can not only enjoy the fun of reading, but also experience the warmth and happiness of parent-child reading.
During the reading festival, Xianxia Xincun Street also cooperated with the Chinese version of the study room to hold a series of child-friendly reading lectures of "Reading Ten Thousand Books, Traveling Ten Thousand Miles", such as "Reading to Break the Inner Volume" held in the Chinese version of the study room on April 11, and the Chinese classic general education course "2 hours to read and understand the "Zizhi Tongjian" on April 21;
It is understood that the Xianxia Xincun Street East Cultural Center is committed to creating a characteristic popular science child-friendly reading space, where there are not only rich book resources, activity space, educational toys, but also regularly carry out various cultural reading activities, which effectively promotes the cultivation of children's interest in reading. For children of different ages, the center has successively launched a series of parent-child activities such as "Year of the Dragon Picture Book Series", "24 Solar Terms Series" and "Winter and Summer Vacation Little Librarian Series".
In the next step, Xianxia New Village Street will focus on improving the science popularization experience of child-friendly spaces, and hold more distinctive parent-child reading activities for children of different ages in the jurisdiction and the personal wishes of residents, so as to stimulate children's enthusiasm for reading and learning, and build a platform for children to show themselves and exert their creativity for their growth.
