From April 22nd to 23rd, an academic forum with the theme of "Science Education in Primary and Secondary Schools in the Era of Digital Intelligence" was held in Dongguan Songshan Lake Future School.
Guided by the Education Research Center of the China National Institute of Innovation and Development Strategy, hosted by the China Institute of Education Innovation of Beijing Normal University, and organized by Dongguan Songshan Lake Future School, the academic forum brought together domestic and foreign education experts, principals of primary and secondary schools in the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, to discuss the way of data, share practical experience, and discuss new strategies and new paths for science education in primary and secondary schools in the era of digital intelligence.
The academic activity lasted for two days, with an academic forum on April 22 and a school visit on April 23. Among them, the morning of April 22 will be the main forum, and the afternoon will be a parallel sub-forum.
Cao Yonghao, director of the Education Development Research and Evaluation Center of the Municipal Education Bureau, said in his speech that Dongguan City was rated as the first batch of national primary and secondary school science education experimental areas, and Dongguan Songshan Lake Future School, which hosted this forum activity, is a microcosm of Dongguan City's promotion of high-quality development of science education in primary and secondary schools in the era of digital intelligence. He expects that the experts will provide more valuable opinions to better diagnose and make suggestions for promoting the high-quality development of science education in primary and secondary schools in the city, and also hopes that all primary and secondary schools in Dongguan will learn from experience, internalize it in their hearts, and continue to explore new methods and open up new paths in future teaching.

This forum specially invited Liu Jian, Dean and Professor of China Education Innovation Research Institute of Beijing Normal University, Jari Lavonen, Director of the Finnish National Teacher Education Forum and Professor of the School of Educational Sciences of the University of Helsinki, Finland, Ge Jian, Researcher and Chair Professor of the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Zhang Wenzeng, Associate Professor of Shenzhen Zero One College, to give special lectures. Hong Kong and Macao linkage and other perspectives to share the experience of science education in primary and secondary schools in the era of digital intelligence, explore the key steps of cultivating scientific innovative thinking, and decipher new ways such as the cultivation of innovative talents.

"Through this activity, I feel more clearly and excitedly that the observation and exploration of phenomena in the process of growing up by our best group of teenagers, as well as the process of forming concepts, including continuous questioning, are actually one thing that is applicable to everyone. Therefore, it is very important for each person to be able to unleash his initiative and enthusiasm so that his potential can be realized.
"It seems like it's a topic for science education, innovation for a few, but it's actually a topic of discussion for science education in the whole country. It is a path that requires courage and perseverance to explore the future education that breaks the 'score-only' under the pressure of the traditional high school entrance examination, and it is very meaningful for us to exchange and collide with experts, scholars and education colleagues from various fields at home and abroad through this conference. The opening of scientific activities should be student-centered, and this event specially set up a special science activity experience - the second creation festival of Dongguan Songshan Lake Future School, where the principals and backbone teachers of primary and secondary schools in the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, as well as representatives of the cooperative schools of the Creation Education Alliance, walked among the students to experience the "enlightening wisdom" thinking classroom with the children, and carried out an experience journey of "exploring the future".

At the main forum, the "Discovery • Future" student literacy evaluation system practiced by Dongguan Songshan Lake Future School for nearly two years was officially released.
In October 2020, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued the "Overall Plan for Deepening the Reform of Educational Evaluation in the New Era" (hereinafter referred to as the "Overall Plan"), which issued the first document on the reform of the educational evaluation system in New China, and is also a programmatic document to guide the deepening of educational evaluation reform in the new era. As the first physical school of the future school in the Greater Bay Area, Dongguan Songshan Lake Future School introduced the intellectual support of domestic and foreign education think tanks at the beginning of its preparation, and actively explored a student quality evaluation system based on the portrait of future school students.
After four years of exploration and nearly two years of school practice, the 1.0 version of the "Discovery • Future" student literacy evaluation system of Dongguan Songshan Lake Future School was officially released. Based on the framework of the new version of the national curriculum standards and the 5C model of core literacy in the 21st century, this system draws on the international advanced evaluation concept and rubric presentation method, and combines the school's "three forces" competency literacy model to form a set of rubric system of competency indicators, curriculum tasks and personalized learning evidence. During the exploration period, education think tanks such as the Chinese Academy of Education Sciences and the China Institute of Education Innovation of Beijing Normal University gave strong guidance and support. The evaluation system has been implemented for three semesters and has been widely praised by education experts, students and parents.
During the academic activities, the "Creation Education Alliance" community initiated by Dongguan Songshan Lake Future School Education Group held the 2024 annual meeting and the signing ceremony of the third batch of cooperative schools.
