I Ching - A Discussion of the Complex Situation of the Sexagenary Branches

author:Qin Chu issue number

The restraint of the heavenly stem and the punishment of the earthly branch are harmful

The heavenly stems and the earth are divided into the five elements of yin and yang, whether it is restraint or punishment, the root of it is the relationship between yin and yang. But we must not confuse in understanding. On the heavenly stem, their manifestation form is the special relationship of birth restraint, and on the earthly branch, it is the special relationship of punishment and harm. Therefore, the heavenly stem is about the restraint of life, and the earthly branch is about the punishment and harm. It is no longer judged by the five elements of yin and yang alone.

Sexagenary and Yin and Yang

From the outside, the heavenly stem is yang and the earthly branch is yin, and from the inside, the heavenly stem and the earthly branch have yin and yang parts. The manifestation form of yang, such as vigorous, active, kinetic energy, etc., and the manifestation form of yin, stillness, femininity, etc. Therefore, in terms of the performance of the heavenly stem, there is no complex manifestation form like the earthly branch, or it is not like the earthly branch that has more restrictions.

The shengke of the heavenly stem is relatively close to the shengke of the five elements, and the shengke between the five elements is not discussed in detail in the theory of the ancestors, nor does it set conditions, let alone tell about complex situations. The theory does not set a premise, that is, it is tacitly assumed that everything is the same condition or that there will be a relationship between the five elements and the existence of the five elements under ideal conditions.

That is to say, no matter how complicated the extension of the later generations is, or the Shengke category applicable to the five elements, the appearance of these situations, whether it is in the unequal position or the amount between the five elements, is not applicable to the normal mutual growth and restraint of the five elements.

Within the scope of too much and too little, the five elements cannot be applied according to the theory of normal mutual generation or normal mutual restraint, so this "middle" is the core of our culture, moderation, moderation, just these words are what we often say, and we are also influenced by culture.

The same is true of the earthly branch, which is a unique way of embodying the earthly branch. From the perspective of yin and yang, the earthly branch belongs to yin, and the energy of Shengke can be regarded as static energy, and it will not have too many collisions and changes in the state with other earthly branches, but the heavenly stem is different from Yang, and the energy of the five elements is also in an active state, so it is easier to undergo Shengke and change in state.

The celestial stem and the earthly branch under special circumstances

The four pillars and eight characters mention the three distances of separation, remote separation, and closeness, which is also easy to understand that the farther away, the smaller the impact, regardless of mutual birth or mutual restraint. There is also the yin and yang attributes of the sexagenary branches, which can refer to opposites attract and same-sex repel. Just a reference in measuring strength.

We should understand in our hearts that under the same conditions, we can talk about Shengke according to the Five Elements, and once the conditions are different, the original Shengke relationship cannot be applied as it is.
