Step 1
Let's start by creating a new document, we'll use the value you see below, and fill it with black.
Step 2
The first thing we are going to put on the canvas is the man, which we will place through the " file " > "place" and as I placed. Hold down Shift while zooming in on the image, so you can maintain the proportions. Placing an image in this way automatically turns it into a Smart Object, allowing you to apply non-destructive transforms and filters.
Step 3
Since we're creating our own sky, we need to cover the sky we see in the picture. The trick I like to use that you may or may not know is to select the area I want to use and click the Add Layer Mask button at the bottom of the Layers panel. You can use the Pen Tool (P) or Lasso Tool (L) to make a selection.
Step 4
To make the edges smoother, we'll use a black soft brush on the mask layer around the edges. This will help us blend the landscape.
Step 5
This layer requires 3 adjustment layers, Hue/Saturation, Curve, and Levels. Apply them by going to Create a new fill or adjustment layer, which is the button next to the Add Layer Mask button. Set the values you see below. Make sure that these adjustment layers apply only to that layer, right-click them, and then select Create Clipping Mask.
Step 6
This is what it looks like when the adjustment layer is applied.
Step 7
Let's put the next picture on the canvas, this is a mountainous landscape. Move this layer below the first layer in the Layers panel and mask some of the tops. Select the mountains you want to display.
Step 8
Now we need to apply 2 adjustment layers, "Curve" and "Hue/Saturation".
Step 9
That's the result.
Step 10
Place the picture with the star below the previous layer in the Layers panel and change the layer mode from Normal to Lighten.
Step 11
At the bottom of all layers, and at the top of the background, place the picture with the sky on top of the stars, this layer doesn't require masks or adjustment layers. Lightening the layer of a star in Lighten mode will make the star slightly visible.
Step 12
Bring the conical structure to the canvas and remove the background, leaving only the structure. One way to do this through a mask is to add a mask to that layer and paint it all black, now you won't see anything, we just have to restore the structure. The way to do this is to disable the mask, in the Layers panel, right-click on the mask and select Disable Layer Mask, now we just have to select the shape and paint it white, when we enable the mask structure is still visible.
Step 13
Now, let's place these shapes around the landscape. The first location is to the right of the man. To blend it together, we'll lower the opacity to 65% and paint the mask at the bottom of the shape a little bit with a pastel brush and black.
Step 14
Duplicate the layer and place it on the left side of the opacity of 50%. Since it should be done better, reduce the size.
Step 15
Place another one somewhere in the middle and reduce the opacity to 25%. Here's what it looks like:
Step 16
Next, we'll use the Line Tool (U) to add a line from the center of the sky. So, choose the Line Tool and create some lines with the following colors: #db9da1.
Step 17
For each line you create, a new shape layer is created in the Layers panel, which are combined into a single layer by selecting them in the Layers panel, right-clicking, and selecting Merge Shapes. Now, add a layer mask to it and paint with a soft brush with black lines.
Step 18
We will repeat the process with another set of lines, but this time we will set it to white.
Step 19
Now there is only one thing to add, balloons. So, go ahead and put it on the canvas and use any of the methods we have covered earlier or your own to get rid of the sky.
Step 20
Let's change the lights on this balloon a little bit, adding a Curve adjustment layer.
Step 21
Place the second balloon. Since it has to look farther away, make it smaller. We'll create a Curves adjustment layer and make it darker than the first one.
Step 22
Repeat the process with two more balloons, which should look like this:
Step 23
The last thing we're going to do is add a "gradient map", I'm using a Photoshop preset and you should have it. Reduce the opacity of the layer to 10%.
Step 24
Right now, we don't want to show the gradient map on the ground and people because it would make it too red, so we'll add a layer mask and hide it.
Step 25
We're done with it, and I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
That's it!
