Helping the World Garden to be successfully held, the 82 Characteristic Exhibition Park of China Construction was successfully completed

On April 22, the 8 Chengdu World Horticultural Exhibition Characteristic Exhibition Parks undertaken by China Construction Eighth Bureau No. 2 Company successfully completed the completion and acceptance. With a high-quality project that integrates the characteristics of the times, international level and Chinese elements, 82 Garden helps to create this world flower and horticultural event.

The main venue of the 2024 Chengdu World Horticultural Exposition is located in the eastern new area of Chengdu, with a total of 113 planned exhibition parks, and the number of exhibitors is the largest in the past. As an important part of the main venue of the World Horticultural Expo, the landscaping project undertaken by the company covers an area of 13,000 square meters, with a total of 8 characteristic exhibition gardens, including 7 international exhibition gardens and 1 Chinese exhibition garden, and the horticultural style covers various types such as Europe, America, Asia and Africa. Visitors will have a glimpse of the multi-garden scenery carefully built by the 82 Gardens at the Chengdu World Horticultural Fair.

One garden, one policy, precise maintenance of each seedling

In order to create a multi-woven flower and horticulture scene, a total of more than 400 kinds of seedlings and flowers are used in landscape and flower landscape modeling, and the growth habits, flowering period and maintenance requirements of each plant are different. How to achieve fine management and maintenance to ensure the normal growth of plants?

The project team adopted a construction strategy that was tailored to local conditions and implemented with precision. Before construction, a detailed soil and topographic analysis is carried out to understand the soil texture, moisture status and topographic characteristics of the construction area. Based on the analysis results, combined with the growth characteristics of plants in each park, a targeted construction plan was formulated.

By improving the soil texture, adjusting the soil pH, optimizing the layout of the irrigation system, etc., to create the best growth environment for plants to thrive, through the establishment of a perfect maintenance system in advance, including regular watering, fertilization, pruning and other work, to ensure the normal growth and good condition of plants, at the same time, the team also according to the characteristics of different seasons of flowering, the team also formulated a reasonable flower replacement and replanting plan to ensure the sustainability and diversity of landscape effects during the exhibition. Through the precise layout of the pre-construction plan, one park and one policy are truly achieved, and fine control is achieved, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality performance of the project.

The survival rate of seedlings is more than 98%.

The international exhibition park undertaken by the project has outstanding characteristics and different styles. There are Manchester Gardens in England, Dream Island in Ireland, and classical courtyards in Egypt...... How to highlight the cultural characteristics of each exhibition park and welcome the opening of the event with perfect landscape effect?

In order to ensure a high degree of restoration of the regional landscape and the best results in real time, the project team decided to transplant the seedlings with full crowns without extensive pruning. This will also face the risk of water loss and metabolic disorders during the transplanting process of seedlings, and the difficulty of transplantation will be greatly increased.

The project team effectively prevented the loss of body fluids in the trees and avoided the risk of seedling death caused by water balance imbalance by carrying out root breaking treatment on the seedlings in advance and meticulously sealing the injured taproot. The radius of the soil ball is specially increased during the emergence, in order to protect more capillary roots from damage. During transportation, the seedlings were moistened and air-dried, which effectively reduced the loss of foliar moisture. When it came to planting, the team not only carried out strict sterilization treatment on the tree holes, but also ensured that the backfill soil was tightly integrated with the root system, laying the foundation for the stable growth of the trees.

After planting, the team laid support for the trees, watered the roots thoroughly, and sprayed transpiration inhibitors to further ensure the survival of the seedlings. Through these meticulous and meticulous operations, the survival rate of the project's large trees finally reached more than 98%.

Technological breakthroughs, shaping a new benchmark for garden construction

As a world flower and horticultural event with the characteristics of the times and an international level, the design concept of the exhibition gardens of various countries is avant-garde, the elements are unique, and a series of new materials and new practices are boldly introduced. Glowing concrete benches, walls made of adhesive stone, and a 4.5-meter-high foundation platform...... How to realize the application of these new materials and new processes?

In view of the difficulties in concrete light transmission, the project team consulted and collected all kinds of cutting-edge data and conducted in-depth research, repeated experiments, and continuous correction. In the end, by incorporating light-guiding fibers into the concrete, designing the interior of the concrete as a hollow structure, and carrying a light source with the right brightness, the luminous effect of the concrete was successfully realized.

As a garden floor material, it is a new attempt of the team to use it on a 5-meter-high wall to ensure that it is flat, does not fall off and does not crack. In view of the problem of the wall, the method of grinding and flattening, hanging net and anti-cracking mortar is used to ensure that the wall surface is smooth and crack-proof, and at the same time, the brushed surface enhances the friction and makes the adhesive stone and the wall closely combined. Screening of high-adhesive, fast-setting glue mixtures to ensure firm adhesion of adhesive stones. In order to lay accurately, the site adopts the process of less mixing and quick wiping to avoid material waste and ensure efficient and high-quality construction.

To reflect the fusion of human and natural characteristics, the Hong Kong Pavilion is set on a 4.5-metre backfill platform with elements such as bamboo scaffolding and stilted houses. Ensuring a solid foundation and preventing settlement has become the key to project construction. On the basis of layered compaction, the project team innovatively implanted 5 meters of fir piles every 50 cm to the bearing layer, and laid a gravel cushion to enhance the bearing stability. The scheme withstood the test of heavy rain, and there was no settlement fracture in the garden road and other structures, proving its effectiveness under ultra-high backfill conditions.
