Walking into Tongmen Village, Qudang Township, Dingri County, Shigatse City, a "smiling face wall" composed of smiling photos of 99 villagers in the village is particularly eye-catching.

Under the photo, a heartfelt sentence from the heart of each villager to the party is written, expressing the sincere and simple feelings of the villagers for the party.

Over the past 65 years of Tibet's democratic reform, under the sunshine of the party, Tongmen Village has eliminated absolute poverty and built a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way.

The wish of the old man Basang

Tongmen Village, which means "village of envy when you see it", is located on the east side of Mount Everest, at the intersection of Pengqu and Zhagaqu.

"There is healing when you are sick, and there is ......security when you are old," talking about the changes in the past 65 years, the old man Basang said with a smile, "Because life is so good, I don't feel fragrant when I eat tsamba now." ”

Basang is 80 years old this year and is one of the elderly people in Tongmen Village. She recalled that in the old society, she was a "langsheng" (referring to a slave) of the lord's family, without any means of production, subsistence or personal rights, and was treated as a "talking livestock".

After the democratic reforms, every family in the village was given houses, land, cattle and sheep, and she vividly remembers the scene of her father's parents cheering loudly, hugging each other and crying.

Embracing a new life, she tasted the taste of a full stomach for the first time, felt the warmth of new clothes for the first time, and experienced the joy of working for the family for the first time...... In his eyes, "the butter lamps in the house are brighter than before".

Today, the old man is full of children and grandchildren. Every day, I bask in the sun in the yard, do some housework as much as I can, and enjoy the joy of family.

After a long period of precipitation, the old man Basang became more and more grateful to the party: "Without the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the good policies of the country, how can we live such a happy life!"

What makes the old man even happier is that after graduating from Tibet University last year, his grandson Dorjee Zhandui was admitted to the rural revitalization specialist in Tashi Clan Township and has a stable job.

"I didn't expect my life to be so beautiful now, and I have no regrets in my life. She said, "My biggest wish now is that my children are healthy and safe, and that Dorjee Zhandui can achieve good results in their work and contribute more to society." ”

The transformation of Tashi, a village cadre

Born in 1975, Tashi's family has been busy for as long as he can remember.

At that time, Tongmen Village lacked farmland and water conservancy facilities, "lack of water in the dry season and waterlogging in the rainy season" affected the harvest, coupled with the small scale of animal husbandry, agriculture and animal husbandry have been in a state of self-sufficiency.

In 1987, when the village organized villagers to build their own canals, Tashi's father responded positively and joined the team of backstones (canal construction materials), often leaving early and returning late and exhausted. "It's for yourself, but it's for everyone. Faced with Tashi's puzzlement, his father replied.

Subsequently, the autonomous region strengthened the construction of border areas and helped the masses improve their production and living conditions. Dams and flood control embankments have been built in Tongmen Village to alleviate the problem of drought and flooding, and improved varieties have been introduced to increase the yield and income of highland barley.

Convenient roads and highways have been built successively, narrowing the distance between urban and rural areas...... A number of measures have formed a joint force, so that manpower has been liberated, and migrant work has become one of the main sources of income for the local people.

Out of the mountains, Tashi endured hardships and stood hard work, and his family's income steadily increased. "Every time I go home, Abdala will tell me the story of the Communist Party for the benefit of the people, and encourage me to inherit and carry forward the excellent qualities of the Communists who are not afraid of hardship, can endure hardship, and can overcome hardship. Influenced by his father, he gave up the idea of living a stable life and chose to run for village cadres to do something for the development of his hometown.

In 2021, Tashi was elected by the villagers as deputy head of the village committee. In just a few years, together with other village cadres and village-based work teams, he has fulfilled his duties and responsibilities to change his work style, grasp implementation, strengthen party building and promote development based on reality, sincerely do practical things, solve people's worries, and unite and lead the masses to promote Tongmen Village to become an "advanced village" in the township.

Watching his hometown get better and better, the people's income has increased dramatically, and the endogenous motivation has been increasing, Tashi understood the meaning behind his father's actions such as giving up his small family to take care of everyone and encouraging him to join the party.

"I will continue to stay true to my original intention, keep my mission in mind, and work with other village cadres to adhere to the guidance of party building, develop the collective economy, comprehensively promote rural revitalization, and lead the villagers to live a happier and better life. Tashi said firmly.

Ram's choice for college students

In September last year, Ram, a "post-00" college student in Tongmen Village, made a "bold" decision - to take out his savings and return to the village to open a sweet teahouse.

"At first, my family didn't agree and wanted me to find a stable job. But I'm an adult, and I should make my own decisions about my life. Ram admitted.

From attending primary school in the township, to being admitted to a middle school in Gyantse County, to going to university in Lhasa, everything he has learned, seen, and heard has made Ram firmly believe that "the life of a fighter in the new era has infinite possibilities".

During his studies, Ram actively participated in work-study programs to gain social experience, and noticed that the original few sweet tea houses in the village did not meet everyone's needs. "In recent years, the country's policies have been getting better and better, and many people are willing to return to their hometowns for development. Especially during the busy farming and Tibetan New Year, because the business is good, there is a long queue. Ram said that she had worked in a teahouse before, so she came up with the idea of returning to the village to start a business. "This way I can earn money and take care of my family. ”

Half a year has passed, and Ram's sweet tea house business is on the right track, with a monthly income of up to 15,000 yuan. This gave her more confidence and a new idea: "I want to get a driver's license this year, and I need to find a training class to improve my cooking skills and run the teahouse better." ”

Knowledge changes fate, and struggle achieves wonderful. Luo Bu Tsering, secretary of the party branch and director of Tongmen Village, said that benefiting from the compulsory education policy and the "three guarantees" system implemented by the state in Tibet's agricultural and pastoral areas, there are currently 16 college students and 13 high school students in Tongmen Village, and all school-age children are enrolled in school. "Happiness comes from struggle. I believe that in the future, the students of Tongmen Village will be able to achieve success in their studies and achieve a new wonderful life in all walks of life. Lobu Tsering said.
