On April 22, Shuguang Middle School held a donation ceremony for the "Talent Scholarship", and alumni Wang Qi and Zhang Chengliang donated 1 million yuan to their alma mater to set up the "Talent Scholarship".
At the donation ceremony, Wang Qi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, fondly recalled the "public energy time" of his studies and recalled the "footprints" of his pursuit in Shuguang. She said that the 100th anniversary of her alma mater is approaching, and she hopes to promote the vigorous development of various undertakings of the school through the "Talent Scholarship" fund, cultivate more outstanding talents, and also present a gift for the 100th anniversary of the founding of her alma mater.
At the scene, Wang Wencan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and principal of Shuguang Middle School, signed a donation agreement with Wang Qi and Zhang Chengliang to the "Talent Scholarship" fund of Shuguang Middle School, and presented them with the school emblem. It is reported that from 2024, the "Talent Scholarship" will reward the top five students (in order of college entrance examination results) who take the college entrance examination every year in Shuguang Middle School and are admitted to the engineering major of Sichuan University (in order of college entrance examination results), and award certificates and bonuses to the winning students, with a bonus of RMB 10,000 per person.
Huang Weichen, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shuguang Middle School, said that this year marks the centenary of the school's founding, and in the course of running a school in the spirit of "public energy" for a hundred years, the school has always walked in the same direction with the development of the country and the rejuvenation of the nation. It is reported that Wang Qi is an alumnus of Shuguang Middle School's new junior high school in 1965 and high school in 1968, and later grew into an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a professor of Sichuan University.
