2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, as well as the Year of Tourism between China and France. From April 17th to 21st, the exhibition "Walking Jiangnan Gardens" sponsored by Tongji University, Tongji University Press and AS Architects of France was held in Versailles, France.
China's Jiangnan Gardens traveled thousands of miles to Versailles, the site of the French garden model, opening a dialogue between the East and the West in garden aesthetics and art. The exhibition consists of two chapters, namely "Gardens and Landscapes" and "Gardens and Landscapes". "Gardens & Landscapes" takes historical evolution, gardening principles, traditional skills, etc. as narrative clues, and leads the audience to experience Jiangnan garden aesthetics in an all-round, immersive, and multi-sensory way through scene creation, documentary historical materials, physical models, multimedia images, etc. The exhibition also invites Chinese and French artists to engage in multi-media artworks such as photography, oil painting, fine brushwork, and installation, which are fascinating and gradually enter the "garden environment".
In this activity, He Yuan mainly exhibited He Yuan's digital surveying and mapping, landscape pictures and He Garden's 1:180 scale replica of 3D printing models, etc., and played He Garden's promotional video and He Yuan's stone mountain house rockery construction feature film, interpreting the essence of Yangzhou garden's concept, architecture, stacked mountains, water management and plant configuration. This exhibition of Chinese gardens hidden in French gardens attracted many citizens, tourists and international friends from Paris and Versailles to check in and visit, which attracted widespread attention from the local area.
It is understood that this is the first time that Yangzhou He Garden has gone out of China, echoing with Western gardens, this exhibition not only allows overseas audiences to get close to the essence and charm of Yangzhou garden art, but also through the understanding of the history behind the garden, truly feel the multi-dimensional traditional Chinese art form. He Yuan said that he will continue to promote the garden culture to go out, so that the excellent culture of Yangzhou gardens will continue to shine on the world stage.
