The Flower Dynasty Festival, also known as the "Flower God Festival", is a traditional festival of the Han nationality that celebrates the birthday of the twelve flower gods in legend. In ancient times, people went out to enjoy spring together during the Flower Dynasty Festival, and the girls still loved to worship the god of flowers, perform flower orders, and pray that they could be as vibrant and beautiful as flowers. The Shangsi Festival, which is close to the time, is also a traditional festival of the Han nationality, and the ancients played together on this day to take a bath on the side of the cleansing, which was called "Shangsi Purification".
From April 20th to 21st, the 2024 Guangzhou Flower Dynasty Festival and Shangsi Festival was held in the Guangzhou Flower Capital Maling Flower Botanical Garden. The Guangzhou Flower Dynasty Festival and Shangsi Festival activities have integrated new forms such as Hanfu culture and flower viewing in the garden, attracting thousands of citizens and tourists, who wear Chinese costumes, appreciate intangible cultural heritage, visit markets, perform performances, watch flowers, and go to a romantic appointment.
The big parade of flowers, flowers with gorgeous costumes
The selection of the flower god is one of the highlights of this flower festival event. At the beginning of the event, the would-be flower god contestants displayed Hanfu on the stage and ran for the "Twelve Flower Gods". At the "Hundred Flowers Birthday" ceremony, the "Twelve Flower Gods" chanted greetings and hairpin prayers to express their awe and gratitude to nature. In the national style performance, the guzheng ensemble "Shangchun Mountain" has a long aftertaste, the Cantonese opera duet "Spring Outing" is in the ears, and the song "Playing with Snow and Exploring Flowers" is tactful...... It brought an audio-visual feast to the audience. In the one-person snow dance performance of "Playing with Snow and Exploring Flowers", the unique ice and snow culture of Huadu was skillfully brought to the outdoors with the singing of birds and flowers, bringing a refreshing viewing experience. In the Flower Dynasty Parade, the costumed "flower gods" and Hanfu lovers set off on land and water, with fluttering clothes and fluttering like a shock, and they all appeared to greet the audience. The 9 squares, including the pleasing flower god phalanx and the cute parent-child phalanx, have their own characteristics, and the unique charm of Hanfu deeply infects the audience. The Hanfu lovers at the scene said: "I have been looking forward to it for a long time to be able to wear Hanfu in such a beautiful environment to enjoy the flowers." ”
At the event site, Hanfu lovers also had a warm exchange and sharing around poetry, flowers, tea, music, dance and other elegant collections, vividly reproducing the scene of young men and women going to spring in ancient times.
Cultural rejuvenation, strengthening the "flower economy"
In this activity, Huadu District promoted more people's awareness and understanding of the excellent traditional Chinese culture and enhanced cultural identity through the display and interaction of intangible cultural heritage. At the Meichen Market, the intangible cultural heritage booths attracted many tourists to experience and check in - the organizers of Shiling copper, enamel skills, gray sculpture skills, Linong steamed wine, etc., innovatively presented the intangible cultural heritage skills of Huadu District in the form of a market that young people like at present, so that citizens and tourists can feel the unique aesthetic fun. In the flower booth, the "ancient, spiritual, refined, and beautiful" Chini bonsai art display, Yueji flowers, diamond flowers, perfume lotus, hot flowers and other characteristic flowers in Huadu District fully show the advantages of Huadu District in playing the "flower economy". The event site also set up a special "Flowers and Flowers, Literature and Art" Guangzhou Flower Dynasty Festival Cultural and Art Works Exhibition, the artists took "flowers" as the medium, based on the positioning of Huadu "the growth pole in the north of Guangzhou", excavated the characteristics of Huadu's pastoral flower resources, scenic spots, and rural cultural resources, and exhibited a total of 90 literary and artistic works, covering calligraphy, art, photography, poetry, couplets and other art forms. With flowers as the medium and meeting friends with literature, this event gathers the ecological flow of green beauty through the integration of culture and tourism, helps promote the "Millions of Projects", and further strengthens the content support, creative promotion and value mining role of the "flower economy" in Huadu cultural tourism. In recent years, Huadu District has given full play to the advantages of unique natural ecological resources, characteristic industries and profound historical and cultural resources, and has created a series of comprehensive cultural tourism activities integrating "flower exploration, tourism and leisure, cultural exchanges, and agricultural product exhibition and sales", so as to promote industrial development, promote employment and income, and inject a steady stream of vitality into economic development.
