Jiangnan Village, Baihe Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai is located in the west of Baihe Town, bordering Nanxiang Village to the east, Taiping Village to the south, Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province to the west, and Zhaotun Village to the north.
The village covers an area of 267.75 hectares and has 11 natural villages, including Zhuangjiajiao, Jiangjia, Yushixiang, Zhangjing, Linggongqiao, Tiandu, Nanxing, Nanhe, Xinlouqiao, Xusijing, and Heshangjing. The permanent population of the village is 2,110, of which 1,875 are registered and 1,444 are foreigners.
01 Space Gene
Jiangnan Village is located in the area west of Gangshen in the upper reaches of Wusong River, which belongs to the geomorphological characteristics of Qushuijingbang. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, due to the gradual rise of the Gang, in order to discharge the flood of Taihu Lake into the sea, communicate the drainage and storage of Songliu waterlogging, and rely on the Gupu, Wutang, Yantietang on the north bank of the Wusong River and Zhaotunpu, Dayingpu, Guhuipu, Songzipu, Panlongpu and other north-south dry rivers on the south bank of the living water circulation. Later, in order to control the water flow to irrigate the higher areas such as the eastern part of Jiading and Baoshan in the old days, and to reduce the burden of flood drainage in the Tangxi depression, the water body is linearly curved and not easy to be smooth, so as to strengthen the removal of stagnant water, defend against external water, and protect farming. People manage the water polder in the meandering place of Tangjing, and gradually form the ecological pattern of Shuiqujing bend and the rural texture of Tangjing around the field.

02 Village texture
The water network of Jiangnan Village is criss-crossed, and the river channel extends in the form of a root system, with a width of about 10 to 25 meters and a spacing of about 200 to 350 meters. The building groups of the core village group are distributed in a belt along both sides of the river, and the settlement scale is medium, which is a typical waterfront linear type. The woodland in the village is concentrated into patches, and the farmland and the river network are intertwined, which together constitute the unique landscape of Jiangnan Village.

03 Rural landscape
The dwellings have the typical characteristics of living with the water and sleeping on the water, and the treatment of the waterfront interface is open to the river, which is very convenient for life. The river is smooth, the water is clear, the bank is green, the scenery is beautiful, the river is mostly connected by small bridges, there are two ancient bridges at the district level cultural relics protection point, which are Wan'an Bridge and Xinwei Bridge. Among them, the Xinqiao Bridge was built in the second year of Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty (1822), and the Zhaotun Wan'an Bridge was built in the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1875-1908), both of which belong to the stone slab bridge.
In recent years, in the context of rural revitalization, Jiangnan Village has taken the improvement of the village living environment and the construction of "beautiful villages" as a breakthrough to further promote the transformation of the village, beautify the environment in front of and behind the house, improve the appearance of the village, and create a beautiful and livable village. 04 Specialty agricultural products
Jiangnan Village is a typical agricultural village, mainly planting rice, the land is vast, there are thousands of acres of fertile land, the rice is lush, in recent years, the characteristic agricultural products are shrimp field rice with its high nutritional value, zero pesticide residues, zero antibiotics green quality has become one of the green agricultural products favored by the public. In addition, cucumbers, chicken hair, tomatoes and other special products are planted, among which the colorful tomatoes of Wuyun Agricultural Professional Cooperative adopt the soilless sand culture technology of the Dutch model, and won the gold medal in the 2020 Shanghai Real Estate High-quality Tomato Evaluation Activity.
05 Characteristic houses
Most of the residential buildings in Jiangnan Village were built in the 80s and 90s of the last century. In recent years, most of the houses have been renovated and rebuilt. Most of the dwellings are single-storey or two-storey, and the plane shape of the buildings is mostly in the shape of a "one", and there are also "L" shaped planes. Most of the houses face the hall at the entrance, with bedrooms and other auxiliary rooms on the left and right, and the façade is mostly whitewashed, and some of the walls are decorated with navy blue, blue-gray or gray lines. There are many colors on the roof, including small green tiles, red machine flat tiles and colored terracotta tiles.

The roof form of the houses in Jiangnan Village is mostly double-slope roof, the main ridge of the house is mostly the ridge, the roof ridge is mainly the female hair ridge and the sugarcane ridge, the decoration is exquisite, and some of the houses are newly made of antique doors. After the renovation, the walls of the houses are mostly veneered with ceramic tile mosaics or fine stone mosaics, and the patterns are exquisite.
