Striking a balance between people and technology

All along, Samsung has always been committed to providing truly valuable products to create a better life for users. Samsung's "Newfound Equilibrium" immersive exhibition, featuring media art that awakens the senses of sight, sound, and smell, showcases an inspiring vision of a better future by balancing people and technology. "Our human-centered design philosophy aims to create a future that is in harmony with our customers' lives through purposeful innovation," said Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Corporate Design Center at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung's "Newfound Equilibrium" exhibition features five unique spaces: "Essence", "Innovation", "Harmony", "Infinite Dreams" and "New Dawn". Anchored by a multi-sensory experience, these spaces offer visitors a glimpse into the better tomorrow envisioned by Samsung Design through a combination of light, sound, and digital interactions.

The "Essence" space, in which the light symbolizing eternity, happiness, love and peace floats freely in five translucent cubes, and the "Innovation" space, through motion sensors, transforms translucent elements into specific shapes and textures as the visitor approaches six large 98-inch screens, and through the interaction between humans and technology, the viewer gradually discovers a hopeful silhouette of the future.

A "harmonious" space, beyond the windows, various shapes move on a large LED display. Here, visitors feel as if they are in a world where humans and technology coexist with ease. "Infinite Dreams" is a semi-circular space made up of a large projection, four monitors of different sizes and mirrors, in this surreal space where visitors experience the infinite possibilities of the "Newfound Equilibrium" with a perfect balance of people and technology.

The "New Dawn" space brings the design idea of the intersection of people and technology, and the balance of people and technology to life - customized products such as customized refrigerators and air conditioners that combine modern technology and traditional art are reimagined, allowing the audience to experience the world of today and tomorrow at the same time.

Necessity, Innovation, Harmony

Samsung's seven design studios around the world bring together more than 1,500 designers from different cultures and backgrounds, a diversity that inspires innovation and enriches design perspectives. For a long time, Samsung has been closely following the evolution of people's lifestyles and experiences, and has kept up with the trends of the times, constantly tweaking and upgrading its design concepts. This keen insight and deep understanding of design is key to Samsung's continued leadership in the industry.

Samsung's "Newfound Equilibrium" exhibition is a perfect embodiment of Samsung's latest design concept, Design Identity 5.0. This new design concept combines the three core elements of necessity, innovation and harmony.

Necessity design focuses on the original intention and purpose of the product, discarding unnecessary elements to provide an optimized experience. For example, the Galaxy S24 flagship series, which debuted this year, has a simple shape and extremely narrow bezels, making it easier for users to use in daily life, and it can also bring a lightweight aesthetic to the visual.

Innovative design not only injects new ideas into consumers' lives, but also brings extraordinary value changes. Products such as smart displays, which use AI technology to automatically upscale low-resolution images to 8K quality, and AI robot vacuums that automatically identify floor types, objects, and living spaces for optimal cleaning results, are all examples of innovation and creativity.

Harmonious design pursues the integration of products and people, while taking into account social, environmental and human values. For example, Music Frame is designed in a picture frame style, which can be subtly integrated into any décor.

Necessity emphasizes the practicality and purpose of design, innovation is reflected in the continuous exploration of new boundaries and possibilities of technology, and harmony focuses on the natural integration of products and user environments. Through these three mutually supportive principles, Samsung is committed to creating products that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing, while coexisting in harmony with people's lives, demonstrating its relentless pursuit of future-oriented design. "Design makes innovation shine, and technology brings great design to life. Only when design and technology are perfectly integrated can we develop products that truly provide value to users," said Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Corporate Design Center of Samsung Electronics.

Staying true to the essence of purity, never-ending innovation, and creating designs that are close to the lives of consumers are Samsung's unwavering mission. As Dr. TM Roh said, "Samsung is adept at balancing design and innovation with continuous efforts to create products that are close to consumers' lives." In the future, Samsung will continue to uphold the design concept of promoting the harmonious coexistence between humans and technology, accelerate the pace of exploration and innovation, bring more high-quality, convenient and intelligent electronic products to users, and drive the progress and development of the entire industry.
