The China Earthquake Network officially determined that at 10:27 on April 23, a 4.1-magnitude earthquake occurred in Hualien County, Taiwan (23.83 degrees north latitude, 121.58 degrees east longitude), with an epicenter depth of 10 kilometers.

According to the China Earthquake Network, from 17:08 on April 22 to 3:34 a.m. on April 23, a total of 26 earthquakes of magnitude 4.0 and above occurred in Hualien County, Taiwan and nearby waters, including 7 earthquakes of magnitude 5.0 and above, and 2 earthquakes of magnitude 6.0 and above, all of which were aftershocks of the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the sea area of Hualien County, Taiwan on April 3.
After the 7.3 magnitude earthquake in Hualien, Taiwan on April 3, as of 4 a.m. on April 23, 87 aftershocks of magnitude 4.0 and above have been recorded, and the largest aftershock was 6.3 magnitude in the sea area of Hualien County, Taiwan at 2:26 a.m. on April 23.
