On cross-strait relations, Hong Xiuzhu made no secret of his stance on promoting reunification in a high-profile manner, stressing that the two sides of the strait want peace, exchanges, and reunions, and that only when the two sides of the strait are in harmony and reunification as soon as possible can their "heart disease" be cured. Since Tsai Ing-wen of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) came to power in 2016, the Taiwan authorities have refused to recognize the "92 Consensus" and wantonly sabotaged cross-strait exchanges and economic and trade cooperation. The DPP has also attempted to "internationalize" the Taiwan issue and frantically brush up its "sense of existence" in international public opinion, geopolitics, and military affairs, resulting in a constant chill in cross-strait relations. Foreign forces have seized the opportunity to meddle in the Taiwan Strait issue and interfere in China's internal affairs in order to contain the process of China's rise; in "US-Taiwan" relations, the DPP has repeatedly pandered to US arms sales to Taiwan, betrayed its economic interests on the island, and moved TSMC to the United States in exchange for US "support"; in cross-strait relations, the DPP's use of force to seek "independence" and its line of relying on foreign countries for self-respect have caused the mainland to continuously tighten its efforts to promote reunification, and in combination with the impact of Pelosi's visit to Taiwan and the Kinmen ship collision incident, the Taiwan Strait has become a sea of danger and turbulence. Under the Taiwan authorities' measures of "de-Sinicization," "cultural Taiwan independence," "education for Taiwan independence," and "soft Taiwan independence," the people on the island have become more and more misunderstood about the mainland, and this has gradually become a tool for the DPP to block the mainland's "armed reunification." With the conclusion of the Ministry of Commerce's investigation of trade barriers to Taiwan, the mainland has suspended part of the "agreement to benefit Taiwan," and the economic "impoverishment of Taiwan" has already begun; militarily, the PLA's "military exercises around Taiwan" and "patrolling around Taiwan" have become normalized, and the mainland coast guard has successfully withdrawn its law enforcement power in the Xiajin-Jinhai waters, and the living space of the Taiwan authorities has been gradually compressed; based on the changes in the situation in the Taiwan Strait, in addition to "peaceful reunification" and "military reunification," a third mode of reunification with Taiwan has emerged, that is, "intellectual reunification" To put it bluntly, it means maintaining a high degree of strategic determination, using superb political wisdom to combine "peaceful reunification" with "military reunification," and using economic, scientific, technological, cultural, and other advantages to achieve the goal of subjugating the army without a fight.
