According to Reuters, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said that on the evening of the 24th local time, Hurricane "Rick" brought strong storms and rain in parts of Mexico's Pacific coast, and its center is approaching the country's coastal resort Acapulco.

According to reports, as of 22:00 local time on the 24th, "Rick" has reached 100 kilometers south of Zihuatanejo in Guerrero State, and its maximum sustained wind speed is 150 kilometers per hour, and is moving north at a speed of 9 kilometers per hour.

The NHC estimates that the hurricane center will make landfall later in the morning of the 25th local time, and many places from Guerrero to Michoacan will be affected.

The NHC said disasters such as flooding and mudslides could occur in parts of Guerrero and Michoacan.

In response to the imminent landing of "Rick", the Mexican Civil Defense Agency has called on residents in relevant areas to stay indoors as much as possible. The Guerrero State Department of Education also said that the curriculum in the coastal area will be suspended on the 25th local time. The department also warned that parts of the state would have heavy rainfall, strong winds and heavy waves.

In addition, a Guerrero state official said the waves in the Acapulco and northern regions could be as high as 3 to 4 meters. Shelters have been opened in several potentially affected areas, including Guerrero, Michoacan and Colima.

The NHC expects Hurricane Rick to dissipate on the 26th local time.
