All sectors in Hong Kong are ready for "plastic free".
A few days ago, the Director of Environmental Protection of the Hong Kong SAR Government visited several large restaurant chains, which together have more than 1,000 outlets in Hong Kong, and are ready for the new legislation.
The Secretary for Environment and Ecology of the HKSAR Government pointed out that small and medium-sized restaurants and shops can make good use of the six-month adaptation period after the implementation of the new legislation to use up their stocks of controlled plastic products as soon as possible during the adaptation period, without wasting, and order suitable substitutes as soon as possible. During this period, it is not surprising to see that some restaurants are still providing controlled tableware, and the EPD will provide appropriate advice and information to traders during the adaptation period to facilitate a smooth transition for the trade.
