The 99,000 cubic meter VLEC is the world's largest VLEC, which is independently developed and designed by Jiangnan Shipbuilding, especially its core cryogenic cargo enclosure system is the B-type cabin (BrillianceE®) independently innovated and developed. With a total length of 230 meters, a width of 36.6 meters and a depth of 22.5 meters, the ship is classified by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), suitable for transporting ethane, ethylene and LPG and other liquefied gases, with low oil (gas) consumption, small evaporation rate (BOR), no level loading restrictions, low maintenance costs, etc., it is the best ship type for ethane long-distance transportation, with significant economic and social benefits. It is reported that the ship type has won the highest award in the shipbuilding industry - the special prize of science and technology. This type of ship has the characteristics of "leading design, advanced technology, green environmental protection, high efficiency and energy saving, comfortable environment and intelligent management".

Continuous optimization and breakthrough in the first system

Compared with version 1.0, version 1.5 has undergone 186 design optimizations, achieving a weight reduction of more than 200 tons of empty ships. In addition, a number of breakthroughs have been achieved in the construction process: the R&D and design closely focus on the improvement of production efficiency, the parallel construction efficiency of the B-type cabin and the efficiency of the construction cycle of the insulation and insulation system have been greatly improved, the hoisting of the deep well pump has been advanced from the dock stage to the dock stage, the liquid cargo pipe system at the air chamber mouth has been installed in advance, the cables have been laid in advance, the insulation of the superstructure cabin has been innovated from the traditional insulation to the spraying insulation, and the construction efficiency of the interior decoration of the upper building has been increased by 30%, so that the whole construction is efficient and high-quality.

Dock stage

Before undocking, the nacelle pipe network and power grid are connected, and the system spot check is carried out by using the debugging manual, and the intensive debugging is gradually realized, laying the foundation for the rapid transfer of the nacelle after undocking. After the liquid tank and the full-width deck are hoisted, the carrying part and the module part cooperate closely to realize all the four liquid tanks falling into the tank, the epoxy pouring of the liquid tank is finished, and the tank insulation construction can be quickly entered after undocking, which has won time for the fixed weight test node of the wharf.

Dock stage

The construction team focused on the "four lines and seven turns", that is, to clarify the seven major conversion interfaces (cable lighting, engine room transfer, upper construction transfer, liquid cargo transfer, cargo hold insulation transfer coating, power system transfer), focusing on the four-line connection project (cabin line, tank line, deck line, Liquid cargo line), grasp the technological breakthrough of the core cycle, gradually realize the long-term management and upgrading switching, and realize the shortest period of VLEC series cargo tank insulation construction, that is, the synchronization of double cabins takes only 28 days, and the strength test of the whole ship liquid cargo stainless steel pipe is completed 35 days after undocking, and the transfer state of each region is the best. In the process, the construction team gradually formed and improved the standardized construction management process network, such as the management rules of the door locking project, the application of the management manual, the lightweight of the undocking scaffold, the application of the commissioning manual, the analysis of the difference of the main line cycle, and the single-point breakthrough of the five core cycles to improve the level of ship construction.

Previously, the construction cycle of this series of ships was "744", that is: 7 months before entering the dock, 4 months in the dock stage, and 4 months in the dock stage. With the efforts of the construction team, this type of ship has been further strictly controlled in R&D and design, whole ship construction, ship supply chain, core test and verification, etc., and the construction cycle has been continuously shortened, and the "744" rhythm is currently breaking through to the "633" rhythm, so as to provide better and faster high-quality products for shipowners.
