A few days ago, at the entrance of Majunzhai Community, Nanying Road, Guxiao Town, Dangtu County, a colorful wall painting attracted many citizens to stop and watch, check in and take pictures. From the place names "Dachengfang" and "Guanyin Lane" to the dialect "dripping" and "foreign goods", all of them show the cultural atmosphere of the old aunt. As for the idea of this wall painting, can you think that it is a group of "little ghosts" from the Todai community?

"I'm so excited to see our ideas recognized by the community and then painted on the walls by our art teachers, which is very rewarding. Chen Siyan, a 9-year-old "children's councilor" from the "Children's Council" of the Dongda community, was particularly happy that his "works" were displayed at the gate of the community.

"From the perspective of children, what are the shortcomings in community governance? This is the original intention of the establishment of the 'Children's Observation Group'. Zhang Li, chairman of the Dongda Community Women's Federation, told reporters that in the second half of last year, under the guidance of the Women's Federation of Ma'anshan City and Dangtu County, the community set up a "Children's Observation Group" and elected 20 members of the observation group to form the first "Children's Council", and issued letters of appointment to the elected members of the first "Children's Council". Recently, the Office of the Provincial Working Committee on Women and Children issued the "Notice on the Implementation of the 2024 Provincial Two Programs Demonstration Creation and Child-Friendly Community Construction Project", and the "East Big and Small Master" child-friendly community project was listed as the "Provincial Child-Friendly Community Construction Project", which is the first in Ma'anshan City.

"Today's children are like 'little adults'. Zhang Li said that at the first representative meeting of the first "Children's Council", the young members showed great enthusiasm. After a heated discussion, the children finally adopted 8 rules of procedure, including "no lateness is allowed for the meeting" and "the topic must be approved by more than two-thirds of the participants".

In order to promote the normalization of children's deliberations, the community has made efforts to improve the "children's voice deliberations" activity position.

Walking into the Yijingcheng community, the sign of "Welcome to Friendly Dongda" is particularly eye-catching. Colorful outdoor wall paintings, brand-new slides, interesting "jumping grids", indoor dazzling picture books, creative art corners, discussion tables, etc., each functional area is reasonably divided, showing the characteristics of innocence and friendliness. This is a child-friendly activity space created by Dongda Community in 2023 based on existing resources, integrating waste industrial buildings in the old community, and creating "tailor-made" for the children in the community.

Promoting a Community-Friendly "One Meter Perspective"

Zhang Li said that only by truly attaching importance to the irreplaceability of children's "one-meter perspective" in urban development and leaning down to start from their psychological and cognitive perspectives can we not turn the "children's council" into a "toy" that is forced on children.

"Through the design of topics and themes, children become the discoverers and solvers of problems, so their enthusiasm for participation will be higher and higher, and at the same time, it does let us see the blind spots in community governance and find new ideas for the development of our work. Zhang Li said that the establishment of the "Children's Observation Group" is only a means to build a child-friendly community, and ultimately depends on the joint efforts of all parties.

Happily, the community is working hard to create a child-friendly "multi-dimensional space". In accordance with the idea of "stringing beads into a chain", while carrying out child-friendly transformation of the whole area of the jurisdiction, the "Children's Harbor" Children's Home will be upgraded, the "Children's Voice Discussion" activity position will be improved, the "Science Popularization and Dream Building" picture book cultural wall will be drawn, the "Escort Growth" child-friendly walking path will be created, and the "Enjoy Childhood" children's amusement facilities will be allocated. Guided by the needs of children and parents, we provide "age-based" child-friendly service programs. A women's volunteer service team composed of full-time mothers has been set up to open a summer "colorful classroom" to alleviate the problem of "difficult care" for parents in the summer. Implement the "one person, one file" system for children in difficult circumstances in the jurisdiction, and carry out targeted social work professional services.
