Yilong Lake is one of the nine major plateau lakes in Yunnan Province, known as the pearl of the plateau and the mother lake of the people of Shiping. February and March every year is the spawning period for fish in Yilong Lake, and the Yilong Lake Police Station of the Shiping County Public Security Bureau has stepped up patrols and crackdowns, especially against illegal fishing at night. At night, the "sortie" lights will reveal the location, and the patrol boat needs to be "blinded", and once the weather is changeable, the danger will also come. This is a test for the civilian police. However, years of experience have allowed Xiang Pengfei to find a "secret".
"When you drive a patrol boat at night, the key is to be able to identify the direction, and we mainly identify the direction by the lights, mountain shapes, sounds, etc., which is difficult to do if you are not familiar with the surrounding environment. Xiang Pengfei said.
In 2010, Xiang Pengfei was transferred from the Public Security Brigade to work at the Yilong Lake Police Station, and in the past 14 years, he has been very familiar with the grass and trees and customs of Yilong Lake. "Ordinary people often see us patrolling in Yilong Lake, so they call us 'Marine Police', as the name suggests, they are police officers working on the water. Xiang Pengfei said.
At present, a total of 173 species of wild birds have been monitored in the wetland of Yilong Lake, including 3 species of national first-class key protected birds, 19 species of national second-class protected birds, and 54 species of wintering migratory birds, such as red-headed gulls, white-fronted geese and gray geese, accounting for 31% of all bird species, of which about 4,000 red-headed gulls spend the winter in Yilong Lake every year.
The Yilonghu Police Station and the Forest Police Brigade jointly set up a "bird protection team", Xiang Pengfei is the captain, combined with years of work experience, he formulated the "three packages" for the protection of migratory birds: publicity, protection, and crackdown.
Publicity: popularize the knowledge, policies and regulations on the protection of wild birds, and improve the public's awareness of bird love and protection.
Conservation - Strengthen the protection and management of wild birds' habitats, breeding grounds, feeding grounds, and migration stopovers.
Crackdown - vehicle patrols, foot patrols, speedboat patrols, etc., to discover, stop and crack down on illegal acts in a timely manner, and provide a safe habitat for migratory birds and other wild birds.
"During the winter when migratory birds come to Yilong Lake for the winter, our bird protection team will increase the frequency of patrols, and sometimes we can see migratory birds speeding along the lake with our patrol boats. Xiang Pengfei said with a smile.
With the intensification of the protection of Yilong Lake, the water quality and surrounding environment of Yilong Lake have been significantly improved. Today's Yilong Lake, green mountains are the screen, green water supports clouds, summer can enjoy lotus, winter can watch birds, and there are more and more tourists here.
