Some time ago, Xiaobian shared with you a lot of news about two new AMD processors, Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F, among these two processors, Ryzen 7 8700F is the absolute focus of attention.
Because the Ryzen 7 8700F is basically equivalent to the Ryzen 7 8700G's decore graphics version, it is generally expected that its price should be much cheaper than the Ryzen 7 8700G, therefore, many friends are full of expectations for this processor.
However, what is depressing is that for these two new processors, AMD does not play cards according to common sense, playing routines, although it is claimed to be a "special version for the Chinese market", but it will still be sold in the global market, and without a development conference and without a clear announcement of the price, it will be sold in the domestic market.
However, domestic consumers can't buy the Ryzen 7 8700F or Ryzen 5 8400F processor separately, both of which are supplied to OEM machine dealers, and consumers can only buy the whole machine equipped with these two processors (see the picture above), and can't buy processors and motherboards for DIY, which is really very depressing.
Prior to this, some overseas retailers have announced the price of the Ryzen 7 8700F or Ryzen 5 8400F processor, but the price of the Ryzen 7 8700F given is around $300, which is not much cheaper than the Ryzen 7 8700G.
Since the initial price published by third-party retailers is usually higher than the official recommended retail price, this price can only be used as a rough reference, and the final official price is still a mystery, which has whetted the appetite of digital enthusiasts.
Now, though, the good news is that on May 14, AMD has finally announced the prices of the two processors. Specifically, the official MSRP for the Ryzen 7 8700F is $269 and the Ryzen 5 8400F is $169.
——Overall, this price is within the reasonable range estimated by the editor, which is basically acceptable.
Here's a brief overview of the parameters of these two processors:
The Ryzen 7 8700F uses TSMC's 4nm process, has 8 cores and 16 threads, 8MB of L2 cache, 16MB of L3 cache, and runs at a standard frequency of 4.1GHz, with a maximum operating frequency of 5.1GHz, and a power consumption of 65W.
The Ryzen 5 8400F is built on a 4nm process, has 6 cores and 12 threads, 6MB of L2 cache, 16MB of L3 cache, and runs at a standard frequency of 4.2GHz, with a maximum operating frequency of 4.7GHz, and a power consumption of 65W.
In addition to the price, the most noteworthy thing is the performance, AMD officially released some performance data and comparison charts with competing products, see Figures 6 and 7.
According to data released by AMD, the Ryzen 7 8700F has about 24% better gaming performance than the Core i5-14400F, and about 22% better application performance than the Core i5-14400F.
It's important to note that the Ryzen 7 8700F is 50% more expensive than the Core i5-14400F, which retails for $199.98, while AMD doesn't mention it, making the comparison unfair.
The Ryzen 5 8400F has 1% to 14% better gaming performance than the Core i5-13400F, and the price is only less than 2% higher than the Core i5-13400F ($185.99).
One last question to keep an eye on: Will the Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F be sold separately? Especially in the domestic market.
According to the editor's understanding, the answer is yes, and many overseas retailers have already launched the Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F. As for the domestic market, there is no definite news, and it is unlikely that it will be possible in the short term, and it may be difficult for consumers to buy these two processors separately, so they can only buy the whole machine.
