On April 22, the Shenglizhuang Tunnel of the West Extension High-speed Railway, which was constructed by Shaanxi Co., Ltd. and undertaken by China Railway Third Bureau Group Co., Ltd., was successfully completed, marking the significant progress made in the construction of another long tunnel on the whole line of the West Extension High-speed Railway, and laying a solid foundation for the orderly development of the follow-up project.

The Shenglizhuang Tunnel of the West Extension High-speed Railway is located in Yijun County, Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province, with a total length of 7060 meters, the tunnel passes through the low and middle mountainous areas of Ziwuling, the terrain is undulating, the gullies are "V" shaped, the minimum buried depth of the tunnel is 22 meters, the rock quality is soft, and the tunnel has the risk of surrounding rock instability, collapse, roofing, falling blocks, and layered stripping of the vault, and the construction is difficult.

In order to ensure the smooth breakthrough of the tunnel, Xicheng Passenger Dedicated Shaanxi Company organized the project department to conduct a comprehensive analysis and judgment of the geological conditions through a combination of advanced geological forecasting, surrounding rock monitoring and measurement, etc., to grasp the location, nature and scale of the poor stratum in advance, optimize the advanced support form and dynamically adjust the blasting parameters, and at the same time, through grid management, on-site layer by layer control, to ensure the smooth breakthrough of the tunnel.

The Xi'an-Yan'an high-speed railway is the first high-speed railway in the old revolutionary base area of northern Shaanxi, an important part of the national high-speed railway network Baohai (Yin) Hai high-speed railway channel, and the Xiyu-Chongqing high-speed railway under construction to form a north-south corridor, is an important component of the main skeleton of the "m" high-speed rail network in Shaanxi Province, and is a key construction project during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. The total length of the line is 299.8 kilometers, and the construction standard is a double-track high-speed railway with a design speed of 350 km/h. After the line is completed and put into operation, the running time from Xi'an to Yan'an will be shortened from the current two and a half hours to about one hour, which is of great significance for further promoting the strategy of developing the western region, helping the rural revitalization of the old revolutionary areas, accelerating the construction of the Baohai high-speed railway channel, further improving and optimizing the layout of the national high-speed railway network, and enhancing the geographical advantages of Shaanxi Province and the status of the national railway network hub.
