By August, the 24 people who were in prison had no task requirements, and after waiting for the results of the instructors, they could not bear to make demands, hoping to retire as soon as possible and return home, but the superiors simply ignored them. At this time, the two koreas are about to sign a new peace agreement, and the task of assassinating Kim Il-sung has become a hot potato, with no value for existence! If the existence of this force is known to the outside world, it will also affect the signed peace agreement, and it will also damage the image of South Korea, but the way to keep a secret forever is to completely eliminate this secret.
The embarrassing government eventually ordered their elimination, but the instructors and warriors on the island still had some subtle feelings after a long time together, and unconsciously revealed their situation. After landing ashore at Inchon at 12 noon and entering Incheon City, they hijacked a bus and ordered the driver to drive to The Blue House in Seoul, and at about one o'clock in the afternoon, after being spotted by the sentry, they exchanged fire with the Rok army for the first time at a station, these 23 men were very skilled in military quality, and after killing two more soldiers, they rushed through several checkpoints one after another, killed 12 people, and 23 people on their side were not injured, they abandoned the broken bus, and rehicked a bus with hostages.
At 2:15 p.m., the bus drove into Seoul, the South Korean military was shaken, thinking that north Korea had sent agents to come, it mobilized troops to encircle and suppress, and finally in seoul's Tongque district was stopped by hundreds of soldiers set up armored vehicle barricades. They were asked to release some of the hostages, including the driver, but three were left behind, trying to negotiate with the South Korean government when they saw that they could not break through, and asked the news media to interview them. But the South Korean military did not pay any attention to it, nor did it care about the lives of the hostages, and launched five attacks on the bus, during which four of the 23 people escaped with cover, and at about 2:40 p.m., the 684 unit with heavy casualties decided to make a desperate bet and was unwilling to surrender. They followed the strategy of committing suicide as soon as they were arrested. Decisively detonate grenades together inside the bus. In the terrifying explosion, 19 members of the team and three passengers who were taken hostages all died in the gun battle and explosions!
The difference was that the enemy they faced was not from the north, but the country they had always been loyal to, and the four who escaped were arrested shortly after, and the military court sentenced four people to death on suspicion of killing sentinels, homicide, arson, etc.! Executed in March 1972!
The incident embarrassed Mr. Park's government and had to do all it could to hide the truth, initially claiming that the country had been attacked by militants in an attempt to portray the rebellion as the work of North Korean agents, but the freed hostages knew that the group was not North Korean and spoke with a completely South Korean accent. Before committing suicide, the Korean military song was sung, and the hostages were very friendly, but in the process of confrontation, the South Korean military disregarded the safety of the hostages and forcibly took the initiative to attack, which caused this situation.
The South Korean government considered that the incident might irritate the North Korean side, but could not openly admit that the force had assassinated Kim Il Sung. In other words, it was a rebellion in the special forces of the Air Force. A few months later, on July 4, 1972, the DPRK Prime Minister visited the ROK to meet with ROK President Park Chung-hee, and then jointly issued the "Joint Statement of the North and South of the DPRK", announcing that it agreed to make efforts to achieve peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
For many years since then, the truth about the Sio Island riots has been deliberately concealed by the South Korean government.
