This case of "a Chinese nanny's broken body employer's family" once shocked the whole country and even the Chinese circle around the world.
A year ago, the Chinese nanny who committed the horrific murder was released, but many of the mysteries in this case remain unsolved.
Killing compatriots, chainsawing corpses, these terrifying plots that only appear in horror movies, happen in reality, which is creepy, and what is even more chilling is that the murderer with 3 life debts was actually released ahead of schedule.
The case has to start from 2012, 2 Parisian citizens went for a morning jog in the Forest of Vincennes in the 12th arrondissement as usual, but they didn't expect to catch a glimpse of a human leg, and their legs were so frightened that they were weak!
The two were trembling as they called the police. When the police arrived at the scene, they confirmed that it was indeed a severed human limb, severed from the ankle, and then launched a search in the forest.
A week later, another blind citizen came to walk around the area, and the guide dog smelled the smell of rotting corpses and barked non-stop, and the person finally called the police to deal with it, this time it was a human torso.
The police immediately sent the human legs and torso for examination, and found that the stump was not the same person, but a man and a woman, and began to investigate, the first step was to piece together the bodies of these two people, at least to identify the victims.
Just when the police were at a loss, a woman, accompanied by a man, went to the police station and turned herself in, saying that she had killed the man and woman, and that there were more than 2 people who died, and there was also a baby!
According to the man's confession, the police found the remaining body fragments in the park, but the baby's body was never found.
The woman confessed that after they dismembered the child, they put it in different garbage bags and threw it in various garbage cans to hide the stolen goods.
Under the interrogation, this horrific murder case gradually surfaced-
The slain man and woman were a Chinese couple, the husband was Xue Liangsi, 27, and the wife, Wang Ying, 25. The 1 man and 1 woman who came to the police station to surrender were murderers and accomplices, the woman was Chinese named Zhang Hui, and the man was also Chinese named Lu Te.
Investigators involved in the case said that this Zhang Hui has a smart and spicy personality, and the two canceled their bank accounts in France after committing the crime, and briefly returned to China once, saying that they finally wanted to turn themselves in.
However, the French police had already sent the arrest notice to China at that time, and there was a reasonable suspicion that the two men had returned to escape the Chinese death penalty.
So, how did these 4 people meet?
Let's start with Xue Liangsi and Wang Ying, who was born in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, and came to Paris to study in 2008.
Wang Ying's family is not wealthy, so in order to earn living expenses, she goes to school and works in a restaurant at the same time, living a work-study life.
It was during this time that Wang Ying met Xue Liangsi, a worker in the back kitchen.
Xue Liangsi, from a poor family in Fuqing City, Fujian Province, came to France in 2004 to work and earn some money and return to the countryside to build a villa for his parents.
In 2010, Wang Ying and Xue Liangsi began a formal relationship and entered the palace of marriage. Two years later, Wang Ying and Xue Liangsi's son was born and named Lucas.
Although she got married and had children, Wang Ying was only 25 years old at this time, she had not finished her studies, and her schoolwork was heavy, and Xue Liangsi was also busy working in a restaurant and couldn't find time to take care of the children.
After thinking about it, the young couple decided to find a nanny to help, and when recruiting, they deliberately screened Chinese, feeling that the habits of their compatriots were closer to their own, and it was easy to communicate.
After repeated screening, Wang Ying saw a job advertisement for a Chinese woman: "Zhang Hui, I have 6 diplomas, a legal residence permit, fluent in Mandarin, proficient in French, a mother of a three-year-old child, rich experience in parenting, careful and patient with children." ”
This Zhang Hui was born in Shenyang in 1981 and grew up in Suzhou, with a mother from Xi'an. After graduating from university in 2004, she came to Paris to study and live, graduating with six different qualifications.
Her husband's name is Lu Te, a native of Shanghai, who is also a "black household", working in a restaurant, the two have a 3-year-old son who is in kindergarten, and the family lives in an apartment in District 12.
Zhang Hui actually does not have a professional nanny qualification certificate, she studied cosmetology, but the price is relatively low, which just meets the budget of Wang Ying and Xue Liangsi, Wang Ying made an appointment with Zhang Hui for an interview.
When the two met for the first time, Zhang Hui seemed very enthusiastic, Wang Ying and Xue Liang thought of entrusting their son to Zhang Hui to take care of, and then pick them up on the weekend and send them over on Monday morning.
In order to understand more, Xue Liangsi proposed to see the environment of Zhang Hui's house, and the other party generously agreed, and carefully introduced every corner of the house.
The couple saw that Zhang Hui's family was in good condition, and Zhang Hui and Wang Ying were fellow villagers in Shenyang, so they were even more satisfied with Zhang Hui, and the two sides quickly signed an agreement that the monthly care fee was 800 euros, and Lucas lived in Zhang Hui's house.
Just two days after raising her son, Wang Ying thought about her son and cried and said that she wanted to see the child, and when Xue Liangsi got off work, she rushed to Zhang Hui's house to visit Lucas.
Originally thought that the child would not be suitable for the care of strangers, Wang Ying and Xue Liangsi were silently worried for a while, but they didn't expect Lucas, who was crying constantly on weekdays, to lie on the bed and fall asleep.
Although the child is fine, Wang Ying still misses her son, Xue Liangsi proposed to take Lucas home for a few days, but the child cried all night when he first arrived home, and in desperation, Xue Liangsi sent him back to Zhang Hui's house.
A few days later, Wang Ying and Xue Liangsi went to visit the children again and found that Lucas was still sleeping soundly, which was completely different from in their own home.
At this time, Xue Liangsi felt strange, but Wang Ying thought that Zhang Hui had given birth to a baby herself, so she would naturally take the child, and asked her for advice on parenting.
However, on May 24, 2012, Wang Ying suddenly received a phone call from Zhang Hui, saying that her family had an urgent matter to return to China and asked them to come to her home immediately, but did not elaborate on what happened.
After hanging up the phone, Wang Ying and Xue Liangsi immediately asked for leave from the restaurant, went home for lunch first, and then rushed to Zhang Hui's house together.
Next, there is no evidence of death, because from here, it is Zhang Hui's confession of surrender.
According to Zhang Hui's recollection, on the night of May 23, she found Lucas asleep and breathless, but she did not know what had happened, so she contacted Wang Ying and his wife the next day.
At about 4:30 p.m. on the 24th, the two arrived at Zhang Hui's house, where she held the cold body of the child in front of them, confessed that she found the child dead last night, and asked Wang Ying and his wife not to call the police, and was willing to do their best to compensate.
Wang Ying, who saw her son's corpse, lost her mind, screamed and pounced on Zhang Hui, grabbed her neck with both hands, and shouted: "You return my child!
Lu Te hurriedly stepped forward and wanted to pull Wang Ying away, and the three of them scuffled together.
Seeing this, Xue Liangsi rushed into the kitchen and came out with a big knife. Lu Te hurriedly rushed forward to snatch the knife away, but in the process of scrambling, he was cut on his hand and forehead and fainted to the ground.
Wang Ying picked up the knife on the ground and began to chase Zhang Hui, cutting her face. In order to save her life, Wang Hui took out a small hand axe from the toolbox to defend herself and hacked Wang Ying and Xue Liangsi to death.
After a scuffle, Zhang Hui dragged the bodies of the two into the bathroom, shredded them with a chainsaw at home, cut off the scalp and put the body pieces into a garbage bag.
Peel, dismember, dice, portion, all in one go.
Here's a detail, when Zhang Hui used a chainsaw to dismember, in order to prevent neighbors from hearing it, she deliberately turned on the washing machine to cover up the sound of the chainsaw.
In order to dispose of the body, Zhang Hui and Lu Te put the bag containing the body parts in a stroller, pretended to push the child for a walk, and threw the body parts in batches into the nearby trash can and Vincennes forest.
Then, Zhang Hui bought a large amount of laundry detergent and disinfectant to clean the remaining blood stains in the apartment, and the police also found from the purchase records that she specially bought ultraviolet searchlights and glasses to detect blood stains, and checked whether there was any residue in the house, which was very cautious.
On May 29, Lu Te bought a ticket back to China and immediately flew back to Shanghai.
While dealing with the bloodstains in the apartment, Zhang Hui let the apartment out for subletting, canceled various bank card accounts in France, and then returned to China with his son on May 30.
Back in Shanghai, Zhang Hui and Lu Teh began to consult with a lawyer about the case, and learned that if they were tried in China, they would definitely die, and that France did not have the death penalty, and that there might be a chance to reduce the sentence if they surrendered.
At the same time, Wang Ying and Xue Liangsi's families sensed that something was wrong.
Wang Ying's brother, Wang Meng, said that he was still on the phone with Wang Ying on May 23, but by the afternoon of the next day, the mobile phones of the two were turned off at the same time and they could no longer be contacted.
Xue Liangsi's cousin also noticed it, and called the restaurant where the couple worked, and the owner said that they took leave to pick up the child on the 24th, and have been missing since then.
On May 30, Wang Meng rushed to his sister's house and found that their valuables were in the drawers, and there were still unfinished meals on the table, which had become moldy, and it had been one week.
Wang Meng immediately realized that something was wrong, because his sister was very hygienic, and it was impossible for the food to become moldy, and the family had not been home for a long time.
On June 1, Wang Meng went to the local police station to report his disappearance;
On June 3, Wang Meng reported the case again and added details before his disappearance;
On June 4, the French Juvenile Protection Brigade began to intervene in the investigation, and Wang Meng got in touch with the Chinese Embassy in France.
After investigation, the police found that the last contact of Wang Ying and his wife was Zhang Hui.
At this point, Zhang Hui's line is out.
The Chinese Embassy in France found Zhang Hui's number, called China, and asked Zhang Hui if she had seen Wang Ying and his wife on May 24.
Zhang Hui, who received the call, replied calmly: "I suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on duty and has now returned to China," and said that she personally sent Wang Ying's family of three to leave safely on the afternoon of the 24th, and has not been in touch since then.
After several conversations, although the family was suspicious, it was true that Zhang Hui's statement had no loopholes.
There is another detail here, after Zhang Hui killed people and divided the corpses, she sent a message to Wang Ying's mobile phone, laying the groundwork.
The message was sent four days after the incident, at around 11 a.m. on May 29, and read:
"Wang Ying, hello, I don't know whose number this mobile phone is between the two of you, anyway, I have been calling you for the past few days, why have you not been able to get through? ”
It was also this text message that made Wang Ying and Xue Liangsi's families let go of their suspicions, and they didn't expect that this was a proof of exculpation created by Zhang Hui for herself.
On June 16, 2012, Zhang Hui and his wife returned to France, and Ruth accompanied Zhang Hui to the General Headquarters of the Judicial Police at 30 Rue des Bines in Paris to surrender.
Zhang Hui took all the blame for the crime, saying that she had completed the whole process of killing and dismembering the body, and her husband only helped throw the body. Lute wakes up from a coma to find that his wife has dismantled the body, so he helps dispose of the body.
On June 19, the Paris Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the two to be taken into custody and formally opened for investigation.
The prosecution suspected that Zhang Hui was too short to kill Wang Ying and Xue Liangsi on her own, and that she might have helpers, so she restored the scene of the crime, and Zhang Hui passed the strength test.
Zhang Hui kept emphasizing that the reason why she killed people was all because of legitimate defense, because Wang Ying wanted to strangle her at the time of the crime.
During the investigation of the case, Xue Liangsi's father told the prosecution that in a phone conversation with his son, he mentioned that Lucas became very quiet every time he drank milk at Zhang Hui's house, and suspected that Zhang Hui's milk powder was added with sleeping pills, and Lucas's death in a dream may be related to this.
Since the child's body was not found and the evidence was insufficient to confirm whether Lucas was killed by Zhang Hui, the prosecution had to withdraw the charge for the life.
Zhang Hui explained that she wanted to turn herself in after killing someone, and that the purpose of dismembering and throwing the body was to buy time to send her son back to China for his family to take care of. However, the French police believed that Zhang Hui chose to return to France to surrender in order to escape the death penalty in China.
After seven hours of deliberation, at 9:45 p.m. on January 22, 2016, the court finally announced—
Zhang Hui, 34, was sentenced to 20 years in prison and paid 325,000 euros in compensation to the families of Wang Ying and Xue Liangsi.
After being imprisoned, Zhang Hui performed actively, participated in various activities held in the prison, fought for the opportunity to reduce her sentence, and also obtained a baker qualification certificate.
In 2021, experts from the French National Assessment Center for Criminals assessed Zhang Hui -
"Very intelligent, with a very strong personality and the ability to control emotions, but with insincere words and deeds, dramatic in speech, lacking basic human empathy, potentially dangerous and potential for recidivism. ”
As a result, in June 2023, the French Prison Integration and Probation Service still decided to approve Zhang Hui's early release from prison on the premise of wearing electronically monitored leg cuffs.
On the other hand, looking at the victim's family, Xue Liangsi's parents have never been able to get out of the pain of losing their children and grandchildren, and they often look for short-sightedness. Not long after, in May 2013, Xue's father suffered from kidney cancer, and Xue's mother suffered a severe back injury to take care of her husband, and her whole body could not stand upright.
